AMEX-issued cards have different numbers for supplementary cards.

My NAB (VISA) card shares the same number with a supplementary card and it's a bloody nightmare to reconcile expenses comes statement time... also by sharing the same number what happens when one of the cards is lost / compromised?

Both need to be replaced.

Re: Amex Lounge in Sydney

Not a bad lounge. As mentioned by others, it's on the smaller side, but decent food and drinks.

Service was pretty good too. Reception staffs were eager to impress. The barista insisted on bringing the coffee to my seat.

Good views of the tarmac too.

AMEX lounge in SYD International airport.

Visited the new AMEX loung in SYD international on Friday morning.

Lounge is reasonably small, nicely decorated, comfortable and has great service. Overall, I was impressed AMEX.

The Air New Zealand lounge is currently under renovation, so having the AMEX lounge was a good.alternative.

It was awesome sitting in a nice chair, having a good coffee and watching a Qantas A380 coming into the aerobridge and stopping about 20m from my chair.

By 10:30am, the lounge was probably 75% full, so I hope that space does not become an issue in the future.

I would think most AMEX Platinum or Centurion card holders would have status with one or more airlines, so I wonder if the availability of the lounge will convince holders of other AMEX cards that fly a bit to spend that bit extra and go to the Platinum card?

Re: AMEX lounge in SYD International airport.

I experienced the lounge on Xmas Day, soon after lounge opening. Small and cozy. Lounge staff were keen to get guest reviews.

I was told shower is on lower level, accessed by lift.

Internet speed was amazing. Upload 35 mbps, download 39 mbps.

Excellent news. For a trip we are doing in May, +1 is coming straight form work so we will both appreciate it if she has a shower before the flight:)

I don't think showers are necessarily guaranteed.
The showers are actually part of the downstairs SkyTeam lounge, which shares staff with the Amex lounge but has a separate entrance (but it can't hurt to ask)

I'm at the Amex lounge now and asked them about showers, they told me it's not a problem, they have an internal lift and you can use the showers downstairs :)

Re: AMEX lounge in SYD International airport.

I was just approved for the NAB Qantas rewards premium card which has the Amex option. I have not received the cards as yet but on the site it looks as though the card has Platinum printed on it. According to the list of eligible cards this card will not get me unlimited access. Seems weird when it attracts a $250 per year fee (after the first free year). Unless I'm missing something?

Platinum Charge is actually $1,200/year and Centurion (by invitation only) is $5,000/year

Re: AMEX lounge in SYD International airport.

I heard the Centurion fee is $7,500 for a year now.?

The CBA diamond reward card and ANZ rewards black Amex that are eligible have a $425 per year fee. Looks like your annual fee needs to be up around here to get very limited access. *sigh*

Re: AMEX lounge in SYD International airport.

Looks like I'm going to miss out next week as the lounge doesn't open til 6am and my EK flight will depart at 6am.. sigh..
