AmEx Platinum Card: 325,000 Bonus Points (Spend $5000 in 3 Months), $450 Travel Credit, $400 Dining Credit, $1450 Annual Fee

Amex don't muck around.
Card posted yesterday morning from Sydney - received in ACT in the arvo. Paid a bill on the card last night, bonus sign up points into the account today!
When did you apply?

Have you been charged the annual fee yet? Curious if you could cancel before it lands on the statement…

The standard link sans referral has ceased showing variable points. It’s not showing 325k anymore nor 150k. Just flat 200. The disclaimer about the points being variable is also gone.
that is incorrect.
I just tried the link again on another web browser and it works with 325k..

Just because it is working now doesn’t mean it’s been working the whole way through.

Amex has changed this up several times over the past days.

Anyone know how the process works for nominating the Priority Pass benefit for a supplementary cardholder? For example, if there are two additional card members, how do I nominate who it goes to?
I only have one supp, but from memory I had to call to get it activated for myself, and at the end they asked if I wanted to activate for the supp as well.

Sunday the 15th at night. Never seen a charge card before, it's got some weight to it :D
Annual fee not charged, this is not a burner card for us, I'll be putting work spend on it.
Tis a metal card. Only had one metal card before in my life and that was the Revolut Metal or whatever it was called back then. They are nice looking and feeling for sure 🙂

It seems like there's some misunderstanding in this thread about how elevated Amex referral offers work.

This is common practice in the US. Less so in Australia.

Basically, there is a standard public offer (200K points in this case) and various elevated offers with referrals (up to 325K).

There is no publicly known way of guaranteeing the attainment of an elevated offer through a referral. Sometimes the referral will show the standard offer, sometimes it will show an elevated one.

That's why in the US they recommend trying different times, browsers, VPNs, etc etc to attain the elevated offer. It is not really Amex 'changing' the offer — it is some secret algorithm determining if you'll be offered the standard or elevated offer. It mostly comes down to luck and persistence.

The text on the website (no referral) changed from when first launched to now.

That is Amex changing the offer.

What has been available via referral has not changed to my knowledge, but the non referral offer certainly has.

It was a variable public offer ranging from 150 to 325 with disclaimer stating the offer may not be there when you return.

The public offer is now fixed at 200k and does not vary.

I have found that amex will show standard "website" offers if you have been on the amex website before looking at card offerings.
If you click the link using a VPN, a different browser/device or use incognito mode it normally pops up with the special offer. If you open the link second time round using the same browser, the special offer is not guaranteed to show up again which means that you will have to clear the cookies again.

This was the same scenario last year when amex offered 250k plus $500 credit

The website has definitely changed - the original link showed a statement to the effect "Your offer is based on your device and may change if you come back another time. This is not intended to be a suggestion to apply for the card". Somewhat irrelevant though, given you can get the same offer (325k points) through some referral links.

When I go to refer, it says they will get 200k points. However, to every person I have sent my link to, they have been offered 325k points. DM if you want the link if you're serious about the offer

I'm not having any luck, still 200k no matter what I try - any bright tips?

This thread has been a great read. As somebody who has for years churned thru 3 or 4 high sign on bonus cards per year and never had an amex charge card before, I'm hoping somebody can confirm for me....

1. How hard would this card hit my credit rating if I held onto it? I've always closed a card before applying for a new one.. would like to keep this as a regular card and still churn others...

2. How strict are Amex on the waiting period between cards? I closed the QF Ultinate about 12 months ago......

Cheers
