What are odd's I can attend an AFL match at the MCG next year?
Well 3 days can be a long time in this Covid19 world, let alone by next year.
Caveat is I don't know where you reside. But let us assume in Australia. Vaccines are not yet widely available till mid season, but that quarantine still applies to international arrivals. Interstate border controls are gone. While vaccine is not yet out, treatments have advanced and Victoria in particular (as have all states) has improved its contract tracing so that hotpot control is more easily achieved. Testing is now also more easily quickly achieved.
Now when Vic might actually achieve zero community cases is uknown. It could be weeks, it could be months, or sadly even never. However the first wave and strain was eliminated in Victoria and I see no reason why it cannot be the same for the second wave.
The next three weeks should give a strong indication if it is achievable, or whether it is only a pipe dream. Also note that as in New Zealand that a new outbreak could occur anywhere in Australia at anytime as we have aircraft and ships coming and going and sooner or later that or hotel quarantine will have another breach.
My presumption would be there will be AFL Games at the MCG with crowds in 2021, and anyone in Australia would be able to attend. By March crowd capacities at venues should be hopefully excellent.
I would also be quite confident that there will be a Boxing Day Test this year at the MCG and that most likely anyone in Australia will be able to attend. However Boxing Day might have tight crowd limits still and so getting a ticket for Day 1 may be difficult.
Actual crowd capacities will be strongly influenced by how often new outbreaks pop up after a run of zero days. The more often they occur, the tighter the crowd limits. Though having said that the various games so far with crowds have gone well.
