Will that hold true for all previous people ho were bestowed a comped status level?

I hope so :o

Is there any confirmation anywhere of the HHonors match being for one year only (Haven't gotten around to reading T&C's yet)?

Members can enroll into their preferred program via the 'My Benefits' section of their Account, where they will be contacted by each of the individual programs to complete the membership.
Once you have opted in, you will need to fulfill the requirements as specified by each Partner loyalty program to maintain status in their programs. Velocity has no control over this or the chosen program’s terms and conditions.

I'm in The Lounge in Melbourne now and they have banners promoting the status match. I've just been status matched to DJ Platinum and the gentleman who took care of it all is a familiar face (well, name, really) to AFF and Flyertalk.

And there were 18 of us in the BNE lounge last night, most with QF Gold/Plat ... what a missed opportunity :( congrats on being the first (that we know of) to get the status match.

I'm 99% sure I'll jump ship...

To all you experts and seasoned (hmmm... seasoning...) travellers... As a QF WP and LTG and with no chance of getting P1, any reasons why I shouldn't divorce QF?

I was leaning toward VA over QF in any event ever since being comped Gold and having nothing but positive experiences on VA flights so far. But now I'll probably go the whole hog and get the Velocity Platinum Amex and move everything to Virgin. Doubt I'll make it to Plat, but reckon I'll maintain Gold :)

The theory is that you will be contacted by the program owner to complete the membership/status match process. I'd mention it to them when they contact you. In my case, I decided to wait for Plat to come through before clicking the button ...

I would have, stupid me though, I didn't read that part properly, i thought that they were same for Gold and Platinum for the Car and Hotel options... Hopefully it comes through some time soon before they call or get in touch to complete it... I only got credited the 1000th point mid morning, what timing though

First Lounges are the one thing I really miss. What hasn't been clarified is whether Velocity Platinum has any additional lounge benefits (EY First Lounges? Please?) over Velocity Gold.

You were matched in the Lounge? Immediately?

Seems better than submitting online and waiting four weeks!

If I'd have known about this I would have skipped the email and made a trip out to the airport this afternoon!

Excellent to hear. I will be putting my request in tonite as soon as I get home...unless i can sneak off work early!
Great changes, well down.

I've been a chancer and put in for a status match to Plat. I expect to be rejected having already been matched to gold. But took a chance anyway.

As much as i like the idea of double plat, unlike some others I have no issues if the request is rejected in favour of other QFF plats. As I've enjoyed gold so far and I can easier maintain Velocity gold, with WP. Given the current SYD-ADL schedule getting to VPlatinum would be hard due to the lack of a later flight. However, I have targetted 2 European conferences for 2012, if they come off then VPlat could be achieved. :D

Send your request through and we will match your Platinum.

I may be wrong, but I thought that Delta flights were going to earn SC's at some point. Is that on the horizon yet?

Yes, is coming soon!

First impressions seem to be excellent, both in terms of the programme and the status match. I'm certainly interested...

I've these questions and would appreciate some answers. These are specific to Platinum.

Complimentary baggage / Lounge
a) It says up to 69kg on Virgin. Does that apply when your fare doesn't include baggage?
b) From the wording, I assume if I fly trans-Tasman on NZ, there is no complimentary baggage? (Even though it mentions an 'additional' allowance, i.e. I've to be on a fare that includes baggage to receive this 'additional' allowance.)
c) From my understanding, if I get the cheapest DJ fare to New Zealand, I can still get lounge access (e.g. the NZ lounge at SYD?)

Hotel/Rental Car benefits
a) Does the IHG or Hilton elite membership apply each year I maintain the corresponding Virgin membership or is it an one-off match?
b) To follow AFF'ers , as an aside, I'd think Hilton Diamond will be a lot more valuable than an IHG Platinum?

Pity there is no anytime lounge access... ;)

Personally, I'm leaning very much towards jumping. Frankly, I've been thinking about jumping for about a year now. If I do jump, QF/QFF will be losing a whole bunch of cc earn as well... If DJ get into a formal alliance, I'd have pulled the trigger already...

Platinum baggage:
a) Yes, 69kg regardless of fare class travelled
b) If you mean flying on Air NZ then no extra baggage allowance (only on Virgin airlines)
c) Yes our Gold and Platinum members have access to AirNZ Lounges regardless of fare type.

Hotel:
a) One off match, then its up to you to keep the status level!

Regarding "anytime Lounge access"..... If you check the membership benefits page, you will notice that Gold members have 'complimentary access' (with one guest), while Platinum members have 'complimentary access' (with up to three guests).

Yes, indeed. Right here and now. I've got a temporary paper Platinum card and a Platinum bag tag. The guy doing the status matching (as I said, a familiar face/name who said he just started at DJ) said I'd get all the fruit in the mail within a month.

And by the way, there are banners promoting the status match saying something like 'Bring your card to the lounge today . . ." so it may well be all the DJ lounges are doing today. Perhaps call your nearest lounge to find out.

I know exactly who that is then. Say hi to them (and ask them if they're doing matches over the w/end, I may have to have a drive out to MEL to do it there and then!) :D
