New points table: Points Tables | Velocity Frequent Flyer

A one way flight redemption from BNE to LHR in business class on Singapore Airlines will cost 175,000 points (350,000 return)?

Bugger me that's a lot more points compared to QF and you can't even fly on SQ's A380 services.

Did anyone here go to the airport to get the match then obtain whatever else was the "additional treat" for presenting yourself there in person? ..
I hope to be visiting Keith009 tomorrow at around 5pm.

Looks correct, but it's only "bugger" if you are comparing options to fly QF or SQ. If you really just want to fly SQ....

...the price quoted is merely 25,000 miles more than a KrisFlyer Standard J award. Also, nothing has been said or proven yet that SQ won't or will open up their inventory rather more liberally to VFF, which may include more A380 awards (mind you, when this happens most of the rest of *A will be pretty pi**ed off, but meh....)

I wonder if VFF will allow redemptions into SQ suites. Whilst unlikely, it'd be a real riot if it could be done! (not at a cost of 1 million points, of course...)

Nothing. I'd be quite interested in giving Etihad J a go

I have used EY a few times in J and found them to be very good. Enjoyed the food, good service, beds very comfortable and ( drum roll now ) an excellent wine list.

Yet another who has requested the match.....missed out last time by 1 day.....hoping the confirmed match comes in soon so i can finally shift my flights from QF....

Now if VA had a kick-cough lounge in SYD, MEL and BNE international terminals (their own lounge, perhaps like the LHR Clubhouse from VS) that'd be tops...and if anytime access is granted to that, even better! (OK I think that tack-on suggestion would stretch the friendship a bit too far...)

Or, perhaps VA will develop their own First class service (then again, maybe not, given that the 3 class J/W/Y model is winning...but hey, wouldn't it be nice?)

I don't think you are being selfish and I would tend to agree with you.

I would also be extremely disappointed if QF offered VA Golds/Platinums a status match when they have not shown any loyalty.

But at the end of the day I think the number of people who will actually keep that status when it expires will be lower than expected.

What proportion is expected by VA to maintain status? Pretty bold statement  What led you to think this?

I believe they have indicated that they will be building new lounges with a partner.

I like the idea of offering a complimentary lounge visit for every 100 Status credits so if you fall short of Gold you still get ~4 lounge visits/year.

I'll only take the status match if I know I can maintain WP. It is very tempting though. :)
Not sure I can maintain VA Gold or Platinum either but with a soft landing that should be 24 months of VA Platinum or Gold status.

Indeed, I have heard about this as well - also a VS/VA/EY 'clubhouse' lounge in SYD.

I think it would be a very smart investment of VA to really splurge on the 'flagship' international 'clubhouse' in SYD....LHR clubhouse but better?

I think there will be a decent number that may not retain. It won't be a huge number...

Keeping in mind that many here got QF status on the back of NAN runs, AA YUPPs, CX J runs in Asia and ASAs which give points and SCs; these don't exist on VA. The compensation is that qualification is lower (and requalification - 800 SCs for Plat is kinda low :)); whether that's enough of a "break" for people to requalify will be interesting to see.

Also, most will need to pretty much stop flying QF and fly only VA. Not all of us are privileged to maintain both Platinums, and not all of us on business travel are fortunate to have a choice of carrier.

For me, I'd like to keep my Platinum when I get it, but it means I'll have to completely rethink my flying strategy.

But I want it now! :p :p

Oh and while we're at it, should we come up with new abbreviations for the status levels of VA? Perhaps in a room/lounge corner over copious volumes of beer/wine? (Señor awilcockson est el diablo :p )

I'm thinking that our stalwart VFFers as well as new VFF overlords would prefer us to leave behind our w*nker brethren...

I know it's been discussed before, but I think if there was a time to decide, it is now....

I know that l'm probably in the minority here, but the whole Any-Time-Access I didn't really understand from a business perspective. Why would you let your customers use your facilities (Lounge), when they aren't using you (for that upcoming flight) and a competitor instead. Who else, besides Virgin now, has ATA?

QF took it away and didn't replaced it with another benefit of WP tier, but that was QF's decision. Had QF replaced the ATA with say the upgrades that Virgin is now offering their Plats, l think that would have sweetened the whole ATA removal, but that's another story.

With Virgin now offering ATA and 4 upgrades upon reaching VA Plat (on top of other benefits), they really have gone all out to entice QF WP's, the question is, how long will this benefit last before being 'enhanced' ?

That is correct and yes very very 'expensive'... But I'm hoping that SQ open up J saver inventory to VA.... In which case maybe we will see the points drop.

Virgin reps - is their a timeline to integrating SQ inventory into your online booking tool? Thanks :)

Dissapointing there's no mention of Lifetime benefits !!!!:(:(

Considering where Velocity has come from in the few short years its been around to where it is today, and compare that with the turtle otherwise known as QFF, I think we should be a little bit more patient!
