Who said anything about lounges?? I think VFF (the AFF member) is in head office!

swanning_it, l have got mixed up with all the new VA threads. Someone grabbed at coffee this morning in one of the VA Lounges, with Barista Service and compared it to QF who didn't have a Barista service today. They were impressed. :)

l was going off that, and wanted to know, what company VA are using to staff their lounges. I never mentioned any head office ;)

I think I recall seeing a thread where the catering Co's were named (possibly). The one where a certain mod was refused drinks 'cause he looks like a lout :p.

I also seem to recall that different companies are used in SYD to BNE but barista coffee is served all day in all lounges (I think) and I must say, my last trip to SYD, the bar staff on duty then were impeccable. Polite, efficient and helpful, even to the point of offering my kids a mashmellow with their hot chocolates and smiling at the same time (something even I have trouble doing at times ;))

The T&C's still mention a grace period, but I haven't found anything that defines how long that is anymore.

Found it!

VA Definitions:

Grace Period means, where a Member has had their Membership Level downgraded on a Review Date, the period from the Review Date until the Benefits Expiry.

Review Date means the date 12 months after the date on which you earn sufficient Status Credits to:
(a) be upgraded to a new Membership Level; or
(b) maintain your current Membership Level.

Benefits Expiry means the date one month after the Review Date.

That's odd - my VA review date is 30 Apr 2012, but embossed onto my membership card it says "benefits expire 06/12"... does this new change now mean that if I were not able to re-qualify as Gold, my benefits will now expire at the end of May as opposed to the end of June, or would this be honoured for status attained prior to the re-launch?

I receved a new Gold card in the Mail on Friday.

My Review date on it shows as the 31st October. There is no expiry date.

On my old Gold card it has the same review date, but an expiry date of 31st December.

Does this mean I'll now lose a month of what I had if I do not re-qualify/match?

I'm not sure, as DJ have the right to alter terms and conditions at any time and any offer is non-contractural, but....I really think they will honour the previous grace period for those who are backpedaling on status. The negative press would be worse than the extra month of benefits for them.

I would have thought that the benefits expiry date on your card would be the one that counts.

I certainly hope so! :)

If I recall, Virgin Australia, said a while back they would honor the expiry date on your card, rather than what's on your account.

(Now to work on a plan to change my experation date on my card to 2112)

That's the point - my NEW (gold) card received Friday shows NO "expiry date".

The older one did - giving two months after the "review date" (which is shown on both old and new).

On the back of my new card (also received Friday) it says that the card is valid for one month after the review date.

If you use your new card then possibly. Wonder if you could get away with using the old card?

If they look at the card, and the date on it still indicates it is valid. They will honour it.

Perhaps they have done away with printing the second date on the card, because of the confusion and now it's encased in the T&C's, as swanning_it advised above

First of all, big congrats to DJ!

As a QP WP who is just about to have over 2000 SC's (but less than 2400 and never going to be 2600) wiped, I have gladly and with thanks taken the offer of status match, and have a good chance of maintaining both.

However, it will be the small things that put me off, especially the lack of continuity between the DJ, VA and VFF web sites. I want to log in and stay logged in, not have to re-enter my VFF number every time it takes me (or not as the case may be) to a "new" website. Especially when you know they are all built using teh same template, and probably by the same team in an office in Bowen Hills!

Why cant the VFF site be a part of the DJ/VA site? When V Aust becomes Virgin Aust (1 January?), will we get a single website? Will VA flight numbers become DJ flight numbers?

Small things like this will ruin it for me (that, and the current lack of regional network/lounges).

From what I hear a new joint website is in the works - along with more lounges...
