Announcing our New Velocity Frequent Flyer Program

Sadly, there are no plans for a Lounge at NTL :(

We live in hope. Newcastle would probably be the biggest port now that doesn't have a lounge for *any* carrier but Jetstar kind of own the place unfortunately. Can't see the maths working for DJ on a mere 3 or 4 return flights a day (two BNE, one MEL - have i missed any?) unless the folks at NTL wants to offer them a very sweet deal on the space.

I receved a new Gold card in the Mail on Friday.

My Review date on it shows as the 31st October. There is no expiry date.

On my old Gold card it has the same review date, but an expiry date of 31st December.

Does this mean I'll now lose a month of what I had if I do not re-qualify/match?

Hi serfty and everyone else who have queried similarly, I've just been advised that any member who has a valid membership card that indicates a 2 month grace period will have their 2 month grace period honoured.

The numbers work for QF in terms of lounges at airports with a lot less passengers than NTL

Ok here is something I noticed this morning with my Velocity Gold card i received a couple of weeks ago..

It seems to have a proximity chip it in it similar to the paypass/paywave. I only noticed this as when i went to scan my wallet at the train station (using MyKi), the reader prompted there were multiple cards. Took the velocity card out and the reader could scan my wallet (with MyKi inside).

Can anyone shed some light on it?

Ahhh, I started noticing the same thing with my GoCard - very interesting!

I have the same issue with my EDR Mastercard and myki - need to keep them separate.

Looking the the new gold card there is indeed a chip ~1cm left/up from the bottom right hand corner.

Yup for sure. Wonder if a ANZ type system is in the works?

I got awarded Platinum whilst in Auckland. I am flying back with Pacific Blue who has no lounge here, or even lounge sharing. I figured I'd front to the Air NZ lounge to see how I go anyway... they let me in no problems! I am super impressed.

Woah. Now you mention it, I just held mine up to the light and noticed the Antenna.

Looks like they might have got some sort of NCGI like system in the works, or at the least, some sort of future proofing idea.

Sneak.

On another note. I just opened my mailbox and found one of these neat little parcels from Virgin Australia. Very strange that I received a new card and set of baggage tags, a week after I got my requal card.

The card still has Velocity Rewards on it, as does the whole package.

Except for a letter dated from Phil Gunther, and a little booklet about Gold benefits and a spiel about Platinum. Both say Velocity Frequent Flyer.

Hoping for a Platinum package to arrive within the next few months, after some more travelling. :D

Ah so that is what was causing it (Myki malfunctions) the other week, it didn't happen last time I was in MEL so I put it down to a reader malfunction, but then again I had an old Velocity card...

Sadly all the plastic has separated off my new card, must have got a dud... but that can be easily fixed ;)

I want to find where to buy the stainless steel tag loops.. very very cool and work well. much better than the plastic/rubber ones..

Received one from Keith009 on Friday as well as two in the new Gold pack that arrived the same day.

Cute pack - took a bit to work it out - slide inner part (holding bag tags/booklet) out to the right and another part (holding the card) slides out the other end to the in unison.

Must say I was very impressed with the Gold pack I received today in comparison with the dodgy WP pack I received from QF a while back.

Yeah I agree, I didn't know you had to pull on the left side as well. It's a nice little pack.

Obviousley they have set a small Intelligence test in order to be a gold. Wonder how many Qantas WPs will fail the test.

It did not fool this WP! :p (Of course, little does )

BTW, one does not need to pull on the left side; if you pull right gently but firmly the left side will come out without further assistance.

the original NGCI packaging was very very nice too. Different style of course. Current one isn't that nice though..

That's what I was going to say :!::lol:

This is indeed a great feature BUT it stops working once you hit platinum. I have just tipped over into partner Gold and would love to see how many more SC's i need to get by which date to hit partner platinum. Any chance of adding this VA?

Already there!
A Platinum member should see the 'SCs to Maintain' balance in their Account - this balance would also be the balance they use to determine how far away they are from 'Companion membership' as they would need to earn the 1500/2000 SC in their benefit review period.
