For the Golds and Platinum's who are heavy travellers, it may appear a little over the top, but for those one-off moments when you have a larger group of business people with you, it will make everyone's lives that little bit easier

Would AFF Social business meetings count? *cough cough*
I wonder how people we can cram into a VA lounge?

1 AFF VA Plat member
+ 3 guests each
+ unused Lounge passes

VA could potentially be opening a can of worms + setting a challenge (to AFF) in one go. :):):)

Well, taking a conservative estimate of 8 VFF Plats who have all requalified for Platinum (8 passes each) that would give:

8 Plat members
+ 3 x 8 guests on Plat benefit
+ 8 x 8 guests on passes
= 96 to enter the lounge altogether!

And of course if any of those guests are Gold, Platinum or The Lounge subscribers, they don't count.

I think capacity controls might kick in by the time we try and cross that bridge, let alone how to get 96 AFFers into the same location...

And that doesn't even include kids!:lol::lol:

Star Alliance Gold members get 20kg Complimentary Baggage Allowance on Singapore Airlines.

Will the Complimentary Baggage Allowance on Singapore Airlines be 20kg?

It's actually (for *G) 20 additional kg on top of gazetted allowances (which start at 20kg for Y; viz. *G on SQ Y could carry up to 40kg).

It'd be nice to have that extra 20kg, though I'm noticing that for Platinums it's only 10kg extra on VA international (weight concept) and 15kg extra on EY. For us single travellers not traveling on work assignment, most of that extra weight is moot anyway most of the time (as is 69kg on all domestic flights). ;) :D

Could be the same day we have the AFF charter... Could you imagine that "Flight DJ AFF is now ready for boarding", and the entire lounge files out the door. Imagine the looks of surprise on various people outside, and the sighs of relief from the lounge staff!

I questioned the business sales rep who invited me to a DJ corporate function earlier in the year in BNE (it was around the time of the Air NZ announcement), and pointed out that if no complimentary baggage allowance was available on SQ, the SQ limit of 20kg is quite restrictive (particularly when travelling to a destination in (foreign) winter, when more coats and heavier shoes are common)... he said he would let me know once a decision had been made between the two airlines - alas, this still hasn't been finalised, although I'm hoping they offer *something* (even if it is just 3 extra kgs to match the standard QF allowance)! :)

What a shame.. Being able to gift (or transfer) them to a friend or family member would have been a great thing... maybe it should be on the wish list!

Unless they print the membership number on these passes, and explicitly state that the member must be present for the pass to be valid, there may just be a market for them on eBay soon...

DJ lounge passes are electronic only... So no issue there.

Sounds like a possible "AFF flash mob"..... That's lots of toasted sandwiches....

Does anyone know if one of the free passes for silver can be used by a guest as I'm lead to believe that A) there's no guesting on a single free pass and B) the passes are linked to your card rather than being paper ones like QF.

You are correct in your beliefs A and B.

If you are a lounge member, you can use a single pass to get an extra guest in, however, I don't think you could use your two single passes to get you and a guest into the lounge off your card as a non-member.

Happy to be proven wrong if someone knows differently, though.

The website used to say that the pass on reaching silver could be used for yourself and a guest. I asked Velocity Frequent Flyer about this only a few days ago and he said "You shouldn't have any issues with comping a guest into the lounge!"

Haven't tried it yet though.

Has anyone who earned their platinum the old fashioned way (you know, by flying the actual airline) received their platinum kit in the mail yet? No sign of mine here.

Hopefully I'll hit platinum very soon (By the old fashion way). I think the new cards are 3-4 weeks away still.

No sign of mine or anything. It shows as platinum in my account. Interesting I did get contacted by sentinel today.

Oh you have? I haven't heard from them since I signed up on the day of the Velocity Relaunch.

I got an email from Velocity saying they will be in touch. That's all.
