Another explore gold (Flybuys) offer

I've just been given this status as well. I was about to apply for the flybuys credit card but won't bother now as I've been given the only benefit I really wanted (Explore gold) for free! Good timing for me as I have a few flights within the 3 month period and will have no problems hitting 80 status credits. I will wait to see if I get my lounge membership refunded as I only just paid for this last week. Unfortunately, I am unlikely to be in a position to earn the 400 SC per year to requalify but I will enjoy it while it lasts.

Ok, so an update on the above!

I called the Virgin Membership team tonight, and I actually had a really good customer service rep.

So all in all, hopefully things apply in the next day or so and I get shifted to full gold and then any SC earned between today as 22 June 2018 will go towards maintaining gold.

If VA haven't learned by now that giving me free status doesn't make me appreciate their inferior aircraft and onboard service any better on the rare occasion that I'm forced to fly with them, then that's their problem.

Just been granted explore gold. A nice surprise! My partner and I are hopping to Bali next month and pooling will get me the 80SCs.

Question: does my partner's "eligible flight" count go up even if the SCs are pooled to me?

Nope, I didn't do anything. The credit came through within 48 hours. It wasn't even something I was expecting to be honest.

Checked my Amex account (which I used to pay the Lounge Access) and it was showing a credit from Virgin for $250 the day after Explorer Gold, so I'm guessing that is it.

Does anybody know how to get 'targeted' for Explorer Gold? No such luck with my flybuys, and their facebook rep wasn't the most helpful.I'm a Platinum QFF looking to make the switch. Happy to go with Explorer Gold as I have several domestic legs and half a dozen international legs I need to book this week for travel in the next two or three months.

If it is any help, Mrs OzEire received the Explore Gold offer after connecting her FlyBuys to Velocity and exactly 3 months prior to status reassessment the "offer" arrived by email, card about a week later.

Unfortunately there's no indication as to why some have gotten it multiple times and others haven't been offered it once. It may be a combination of things rather than one particular thing, it may be completely random, it may even be faulty (e.g. Gold/Plats getting it).

Have you tried asking Velocity for a status match? There is a slim possibility:-

However, Pilot Gold is also known to be offered to individual Qantas flyers prized by Virgin Australia.

Happy to go with Explorer Gold as I have several domestic legs and half a dozen international legs I need to book this week for travel in the next two or three months.

Not too useful but you'll get lounge access before domestic Economy X flights until the end of August - Virgin Australia opens lounges to Qantas frequent flyers - Australian Business Traveller.

Didn't get a targeted email but suddenly made "explore gold" yesterday. Have no upcoming unbooked travel but will have work book me back to Perth for a meeting I was possibly going to teleconference. Should get 80-100+ SC return and can bid for an upgrade to J and that's gold for just over a year.

Now to work on QF gold again...

...however my wife is still on Red, which isn't ideal since the only travelling I do is with her, so there isn't much point me going through priority security/boarding/baggage claim etc then standing on the other side waiting for her. At least I can guest her into the Lounge.

We have a little bit of travel coming up in the next few months which should get me over the 80 SC qualifier, but not much planned other than that.

Any ideas on the quickest way to get her up to Gold so we can take better advantage of the benefits?

Your wife should get priority security, boarding and baggage when she travels with you regardless of her status.

I was not sent any offers nor did I register for anything, but overnight my account has been 'reviewed' and now shows Explore Gold status! I do have over 1000 status credits worth of flights booked in the next three months so I guess that's why John Borgetti personally gave me EG status. JB you've done it again!

I don't know what they look at, but my account change was similar to yours except I had 0 flights and no prior intention of any flights! Have now made a booking which they wouldn't otherwise have received so it must work out for them!
