Anybody with any experience getting wiped points reinstated?

You can always buy something cheap from eBay via the Qantas Mall. Even if it cost you say $7.50 for something you don't need it's better than losing your points stash. Hell, I've even seen thing for a dollar or two.

You can also get a replacement FF card sent out - costs 2000 points (IIRC) and gains another 18 months.

This is pretty much instant.

I just spoke to the QFF call centre and I have completed QF Goodwill Points Challenge. The wiped points will be back in my account within 3-5 days. I'll post an activity statement screen shot when that occurs. Thanks for all the help team AFF! :)

Thanks for letting us know the end of the saga. It's always good to hear of a positive outcome.

Congrats on the outcome

Qantas Points Challenge started today for a family member who just had her points expire after 18 months of inactivity.
She needs to do 2 different types of points earnings in the next 6 months to get her points reinstated.
I will post more info in due course. Qantas were nice about it.

How many points were lost?

That's interesting. It sounds like you can reclaim old points by doing something other than booking flights. I wonder if the insurance surveys would count. I've made over 1000 points with those so far but I don't know if they are an ongoing thing.

A family member transferred some points to me as they couldn't use them before the points were due to expire. Since then, I've redeemed some of the points. I don't know whether this will change the expiry of both my points and the points transferred to me. I know that you can redeem a small amount of points in order to change the expiry date of all your points but I don't know if that applies to points that were transferred to me which would have otherwise expired in their account in the next few months.

The points that have been transferred to you take on the expiry date of the points in your account. It won't change the expiry date of your points as it isn't considered an activity.

The expiry of all of your points will be the date of the last activity within your account.

Personally I wouldn't let this happen in my immediate family as I watch all four accounts.
Qantas do not need to make such an offer but in this case I was very appreciative of getting such an offer for my young relative.
Dr Ralph I don't generally mention quantities of points but a dozen front of plane rides worth wouldn't be far wrong.
Family transfers are excluded so don't think of that as a solution.

That's what I thought. The problem is that somewhere in the family transfer conditions there is a reference which says that the points transferred retain their expiry date even after the transfer. Will they keep this expiry date after I make a redemption. This redemption alters the expiry of the existing points in my account but does it change the expiry of the transferred points.

I wish we still had a Red Roo.

Extending the question. Which points are used first then?

Logic to me says the oldest ones but is that actually the case?

Points transferred take on the recipient family member's status.

If they have regular "activity" they will not expire.

Tonight we are at half way in recovering the lost points. Just need a second separate points earning transaction and not the same source as the first one. Excluded are family transfers.

Have you bought a bottle of wine or six from Epiqure?

Have never bothered with either Qantas cash or Epicure. Is there an easy small quick transaction there or maybe Booktopia?

Epicure is probably your quickest way of getting the points activity.

What about ingogo (the fixed rate taxi app)? they are running a campaign where you get 250 points for your first four rides booked through the app by 30 June (need to obviously link your QFF number before booking). While the terms and conditions say that points can take up to 60 days to post, in my experience they post within a few days after completing a trip booked through to app.
