Wow, I have logged into my ANZ account and it shows that they have now deposited the bonus 50,000 points! Woop woop wooop! :) FWIW I have only made around $800 worth of purchases since I activated the card on 20/7 however will continue to spend slightly more than the $1,500 requirement, just in case.

Wonder if those points will land at the end of your current statement period?

Basic card here. Met the $1500 spend late last week. 50k points showing on ANZ. Not yet posted to QF though. Hopefully this will occur at the end of the statement period.

Compared to the previous Macquarie cards, ANZ have been totally painless to deal with (hopefully not jinxed anything now).

Hubby did online application on sunday and heard nothing yet......never banked with ANZ before though.....

This. The average person is either too lazy, ignorant or stupid to take advantage of these things. After all, the Whirlpool consensus is that points are rip off schemes that give terrible value and are hard to redeem. Oh, the blasphemy!
That's good, because if they all jumped on I suspect the banks wouldnt give such huge promo's. Better for us with a lower uptake, i.e. the marketing people think the promo has worked but the accountants think it hasnt worked TOO well.

Yes indeed.
Actually I have a funny story of another bank (not to be named), no bous points arrived. Complained, they said "you aren't on that promo", I say that "yes I am and I have the pdf of the offer that proves it" and sent it through. Next thing, very apologetic and "Oh Ok, we will credit the bonus with next set of points".

Next month guess what I get, not one bonus but two!

I'm still in the "no bonus points arrived' part of that story :p

The other interesting thing that happened to me today when I went to be ID'd at the ANZ is they have another offer for their Access Advantage Account (essentially a savings account), if you open account, deposit $2K and open an internet banking account (or the app) they will give you $100. Account needs to be open as at 15th Oct. They seem to be throwing money around, am sure some will find a use of this offer!

They really are making a decent push into the market...

Noticed that on the website this morning. Won't say no to a $100.

The banks also make money when that laziness extends to cancelling the card before your fee-free year finishes. I know people who have credit cards they don't use and still pay the annual fee on them :(

50k points showing in my ANZ account too...just need them to transfer now.

I was like that too, after I graduated from uni and CC was no longer free, i kept paying the fees... for 6 years :|
I was young and stupid then, now i'm only 1 of those.

Yes, well you know the reason for change from bonuses from just applying for the card to applying and then spending xx_ is because they count on people just getting into the habit of using the card (even if the card has a poorer earn) and apparently, yes this does work, at least on some. Apparently one of the reasons behind the Amex cash back offers and Amex Small Business month too, some people get it once and then assume they will keep getting it!

Which one are you now? :P
