Just closed mine before second year fee due. The closures staff, although polite enough, have quite a script to get through.
Only offer was for a balance transfer.

I use my black frequently, no offers here.

Have to cancel within a few weeks, looks like I won't get an annual fee waiver either...

I'll be keeping my black ... as long as it's ATO friendly. Don't care how much they up the fee.

I offloaded it before second year..... Why did you get card? Why you canceling?
Did you get the points? No attempt to retain me.
Not enough spends as only did a balance transfer and then withdrew the money from bank.... Visa still sticking to letter it came with..... Nice looking BLACK card though and sad to not have used AMEX lounge at international.... Oh well...

Cancelled my ANZ last week before the 2nd year clicked over , no questions asked . Have now applied and been approved for a Velocity Amex with 60K + 150 Status Credits +comp flight/year.

I emailed them from my account, 20 seconds to type my wish to cancel the card. About 4-5 days later, message in account saying OK, all closed. It is the least painful way to close it.

Just sent the same internet bank message... also asked them to move limit to my ANZ Black rewards from the ANZ FF im closing

Rang this morning to ask about a pro rata refund of the fee if I cancel within a week or so of it being charged and was told that wasnt an issue. Pleased with that as I'd like to cancel it but need it for another couple of weeks unfortunately.

Do you mean $150 voucher instead of the 150 SCs?

No 150 Status Credits , when you purchase a flight directly with VA in the first 3 months of Membership

Ahh i think you mean the Virgin Money High Flyer visa? It does have very high spend requirements for the sign on points (i think its $18000?)

No , definitely a Velocity Platinium American Express Card

Cancelled my first card through securemail online - responded within 24hrs, no need to pick up the phone.

Now to see if the bonus points from my second card will post...

Just got my 50k points posted (the 3k min spend card) after only holding it for 5 weeks. Pretty sure i didn't manage to hit min spend for a few weeks after activation either .

I applied for the current offer on the black card even though I cancelled the previous card I had with them a month or two ago. The fine print has in it that the offer only applies to those who haven't held a card with anz in the last twelve months. How strict do you think this is enforced? Am I likely to see the points of not?

Had to call as the securemail sat there unread for over 24 hours.

Has anyone managed to get the annual fee waived for the second year?

Nope. They specifically said when I spoke to them minutes ago that as the first year was fee free, they dont waive the fee for the second year. So I cancelled.
