ANZ Platinum, 50k bonus QFF points after $1500 spend, no annual fee first year

Had to call as the securemail sat there unread for over 24 hours.
That's not uncommon, most of my messages have taken between 1-2 days to respond. Either way I'd be happy to wait a few days to save dealing with their callcentre.

Was over and done with in minutes; called the number on the back of the card and was put through to cancellations.

My cards have been sitting unused for a while until I can stomach having to deal with the ANZ call centre to cancel them, but today I received an email offering a 25% points bonus for the next three months. Did anyone else receive this? I wonder if it was targeted at people who are no longer using their cards or if all customers got it?

My wife got this offer too!

I think they probably realised that her card was sitting in the draw unused.

For those who cancelled their cards, double check to ensure that it's actually been closed.

I closed my anz FF black account last month before going away for a month long work trip & holiday.
Shredded the cards and made sure that all the DD's had been stopped.

Got back a couple of weeks back and forgot all about it, on friday got a statement for the account and thought wtf?
Checked my internet banking and the account is still there, so I called them and was given some excuse about some system glitch and that yes my account was still open.
So they promptly closed it.

Mildly annoyed, but would have been moreso if i was charged the annual fee (which would be due this month)
So yes, if you close out the card, make sure you check that it's been closed.

Hmmm haven't seen anyone post that they received the annual fee waiver for the second year yet.
My guess is that everyone is closing the account.

Yup had to close my card as the rep involved it was not possible to wave the annual fee, couldn't be bothered calling back for a different rep ended up cancelling it.

Still have my Citi Signature card from the previous deal.

I just got this card in the last round of 50k points promo from ANZ and am wondering, has anyone had success in getting the discount for qantas club lounge for a family member? I already have the access but would be keen to pay for the brother to join the QC (he will then just pay me the cash) and get him a discount if possible (and I get the FF points).

Interested if this is possible? Thanks

Simple 1 minute "close/cancel" process tonight, very simple and quick. Only asked why I wanted to cancel, said I went to NAB......40k point offer :)

Hi all,

Long time between drinks for me, but applied for this card this week and have been approved.

Just a quick question.

Does a payment to the ATO qualify for the 3k spend?

Your application must be approved and you must activate the card and make $3,000 worth of eligible purchases (excluding fees, cash, cash equivalent transactions, balance transfers and premiums for ANZ credit card insurance) within three months of approval to receive the bonus Qantas Points.

I applied for the current offer on the black card even though I cancelled the previous card I had with them a month or two ago. The fine print has in it that the offer only applies to those who haven't held a card with anz in the last twelve months. How strict do you think this is enforced? Am I likely to see the points of not?

Hi Plutek, let us know how you go, I'd rather not rack up another application if I'm not going to get anything for it ;)

Hi, does anyone know whether you can negotiate the minimum 15k limit on the anz black card? I'd like a lower limit (for future home loan applications) but prefer the black over the Platinum.

Also does anyone know the fx fees on either the black or platinum?

TIA :)

About to close the ANZ black card. Does anyone know if points are paid on the 'final' statement after the account is 'closed' ? I have a decent points haul coming but not yet credited... do I need to keep the account open to collect ? Not worth paying the full annual fee though.

Hi Guys,

After getting approved how long after do we get the Qantas passes in the mail?

Thanks,
K.

Yes; I closed mine last month and my final points came through a few days ago.

Hi Guys,

After getting approved how long after do we get the Qantas passes in the mail?

Thanks,
K.

They're not sent automatically. You have to request them by calling the ANZ concierge. Then they may take up to 4 weeks.

4. Offer only available to ANZ Frequent Flyer Black account holders. Account holders may request no more than two Qantas Club Lounge invitations in any 12 month period by calling the ANZ Personal Concierge on 1300 580 765. Qantas Club Lounge invitations will be sent to the account holder’s current mailing address within 4 weeks of request

Ok thanks for the info. When I had Macquarie banks cards they were sent automatically. Will call up when the time comes.

Just applied for a Platinum card - application has been referred, presumably since I tick a few risk boxes (started a new job a couple of weeks ago, etc etc), but hopefully it'll come through. Planning on buying a few big-ticket things in the very near future, so I should meet the minimum spend requirement within the first few weeks no problem. Not quite the Velocity 100k deal, but it's a pretty decent deal nonetheless!
