I can confirm we triggered bonus points with nothing other than 100% ATO spend across 2 separate accounts.

Met the spend criteria at the beginning of the second month, bonus points got credited today into ANZ, the last day of the same cycle. I'm expecting the points to hit my QFF by tomorrow.

Interesting the different QFF points earning ratios between the Qantas Amex cards

eg

Qantas Amex Ultimate card - from 0.5 up to 3 points per dollar spent eg for restaurants, qantas spend etc
whereas
ANZ Black is basically 1.5 points per dollar though bonus pts seem to be available with qantas purchases.

I am going to have to get a program that tells me when to use which card.

Hi Guys,

signed up to this card and received two cards, one Visa and one Amex.

Do i just choose which i want to use and then only activate that one and throw the other one away?

No, That's the feature that you have the best of both worlds ,they're both linked to your account. Visa gets you 2 where as Amex gets you 3 ANZ reward points per $ spent.

oh i see. I've already got the platinum charge card. i only got this card for the bonus points on sign up. ill hit the max spend by paying my tax bill soon.

My 75,000 point have now posted. Those I reached the spend threshold in 6 weeks, the points posted on the same days as my third statement was generated. Might be coincidence, or maybe they've tweaked their system so points post at the 3 month mark.

Was just looking on ANZ to see what their latest offering was given that the last deal expired yesterday and found this:

Credit cards - Select from a range of credit card options | ANZ

Current deal seems to work when clicking on "Apply Now" link but clicking elsewhere on the card photo or "ANZ Frequent Flyer Black" link seems to take you to the old 50,000 deal which expired on 20 August 2015.

Terms and Conditions: Not available in conjunction with other offers, packages or promotions, or when transferring from an existing ANZ credit card or where you currently hold or have closed an ANZ Frequent Flyer, ANZ Frequent Flyer Gold, ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum or ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card within the previous twelve months. This offer applies only once per eligible customer.

Equivalent offer also seems to be available for the ANZ Black Rewards Points - the 75,000 Rewards points would equate to 37,500 Velocity points or 25,000 Kris Flyer Miles.

The ANZ Black Rewards offer is "Not available in conjunction with other offers, packages or promotions, or when transferring from an existing ANZ credit card or where you currently hold or have closed an ANZ Rewards, ANZ Rewards Platinum or ANZ Rewards Black credit card within the previous twelve months. This offer applies only once per eligible customer."

Can i use the 7500$ on gift cards as i won't be able to spend 7500$ in 3 months of home expense?

Thanks
Ben

yes.

If you're finding it hard to spend, you can always overpay your electricity or water if your provided supports paypal. Generally most CC's only pay half points on utilities such as those, but going through paypal means you get the entire point.

Definitely. I do it all of the time. Make sure you buy the gift cards at the 5 to 10% discount that they are usually available at.

What is your experience in overpaying utility bills? As in, which company, and how quickly did you get a refund (if any)?

Perhaps incorrectly phrased, I meant paying extra so that next month your account standing is in credit. I think I did this with AGL.

I've tried over paying with AGL & Sydney Water & they make you send a copy of your bank statement proving you actually made the payment the refund to the very same credit card thus defeating the purpose of said overpayment.

Haven't done it with PayPal. Will be interesting to see the result.

I've offloaded pre paid Visa cards to Telstra, foxtel, virgin mobile and iiNet, thereby putting my account into credit (up to a few hundred dollars at a time). Never any problem.

You're doing something wrong. I overpay my bills (electricity, gas, telephone, internet) all of the time when I need to reach minimum spends on new credit cards quickly. No money has ever been refunded. It simply stays in the account (in credit) until the next billing cycle.

Anyone has luck reapplying in under 12 months and get the sign on bonus? I closed my last ANZ Blacks in June 15.

I understand what you mean. I agree, shouldn't have any issues leaving a credit balance towards a future bill. I've tried to access that money by asking for an over payment refund so I can use the funds for other purposes. My overpayments have been by a factor of 10 usually (i.e. $215.23 bill paid $2152.30 so would take a number of bill cycles to get through it as an overpayment) so prefer to ask for the cash back. As a refund to the same card then reduces spend (defeating reason for over payment to meet minimum spend) I haven't bothered with it anymore. I can understand from merchant's perspective they need to get their merchant fee back which is fair enough.
