Class act by the ANZ. Not every a the bank hands back money that is rightfully theirs.

Actually not that unusual if you ring and have a genuine reason (i.e. they can see its a one off). Banks are not always the ogres they are made out to be!

I agree with baron33. I managed to open the Credit Card from the link successfully without having to open an account
Also when I received my welcome letter, it said that the fee was not applicable for the first year.

I am now just waiting to make the $2,500 in charges and hopefully they will send over the bonus points.

I had similar thing. Was o/s and the first month auto pay had not kicked in, which as a perennial CC applicant, I should have remembered. I apologised and they said if I pay it immediately and waited a couple of days, the'y reactivate it. Not that I'd noticed it was locked. Once they rec'd payment, they reversed all charges, which I much appreciated.

I note that AMEX sends me a message that my first month account is due and that I should not forget that my auto pay has not kicked in yet.

I had not got around to registering my ANZ Visa to be swept monthly by the CBA, and missed the payment date on month two of having this card. Dumbass. Paid it in full two days late.

When the statement came last week, a $4300 balance had incurred over $100 in interest.

I rang to ask how that was calculated, and the call centre guy told be it was wound back to the start of the billing period... and at ~21%, there you go.

I thanked him, told him it was my fault, and that whilst I wasn't happy, it was my own doing.

He then offered to see if he could get the charge waived.

I held the line for 3 mins... voila! Interest fee reversed.

Class act by the ANZ. Not every a the bank hands back money that is rightfully theirs.

Had just noticed my Macquarie Platinum stopped earning points on ATO spend ... argh hate paying the fee without the rewards.

So on the hunt for a card that can earn for my quarterly instalments.

Am I right that this is the only one? Or is it the Black rewards card? (or are they the same thing)

Seems the 75,000 Qantas points deal after $2500 spend and no annual fee in the first year has quietly been bought back. I am ineligible until mid-November so hopefully the deal lasts until then:

The link on the public site does not mention the first year no annual fee component (which has been the case for some time now):

Just spend 2mins signing up for a free debit card online first, then apply for the FF card immediately after. I never activated the debit card.

Incorrect.
Directly from that link 4/5 the way down the page:
"You don’t need to be an ANZ customer to apply for an ANZ credit card.
If approved, you may expect to receive your card within five business days."


Fantastic this deal is back, went to go for it but I hadn't "served" my 12 month period before they axed this. Going to go for this again! ^_^

I went online chat to confirm the above I see what you mean and ANZ response is:

The statement "You don’t need to be an ANZ customer to apply for an ANZ credit card." is stated for an ANZ credit card.
Not an offer in particular. That statement means that you can still apply online for an ANZ credit card even if you are not an existing ANZ customer.

I put a friend onto this. She had the online application fail twice and phoned ANZ who told her that the free for the first year was incorrect. Anyone had it confirmed one way or t'other?

It kept failing for me too. Keep trying. It eventually worked for me in Chrome (although not sure if browser has any impact).

Got my app in, was conditionally approved, submitted my bonafides yesterday and now waiting out on whether I proceed or not. Not sure I'm comfortable being out in front......it took me 10 years to post my first message on AFF - much prefer the view from my arm chair.

Just a tip if you threaten to cancel they will try to get you to
keep the card by increasing the points earned by 0.5 for the visa and Amex.

Hi, could you please explain me more about this? So if you are holding the black card, they will increase the points eanred to 2 pts / $1 for Amex and 1.25 pts / $1 for Visa, am I correct? I am holding the black cards and planning to cancel the cards soon but will try to ask them to increase the points earned or waive the annual fee.

Thanks for this. I have applied, I don't have a QFF (had etihad before, but they are so poor)
I should be able to rack up 2500 easily.

Quick Q about the Qantas Lounge passes included with the card. Has anyone used them yet and do they check your CC against boarding pass to confirm?
