Re: ANZ QFF Black 75,000 bonus with no annual fee 1st year -only $2500 spend 1st 3 mo

A question about the minimum $75k income requirement.

My salary is less than $75k but with other income sources I reach over that amount. The problem is that when I add deductions etc my taxable income falls under the $75k and this lesser amount is what is listed on my tax return - which I need to supply in the application. Therefore, I don't have a piece of paper that shows my full $75k+ income before the deductions came off.

Has anyone else had this problem? And have you had success in proving your income by listing your accountant in the application?

Wow, this is probably a question for my accountant but I thought I'd post it here just in case I'm not alone. I'd like to apply for the ANZ Black card if possible.

Sounds like you're self employed.

Applying through a bank itself might be one way to prove you will reliably pay off the balance - that could be one option.

However arguably your 'taxable income' would exclude money offset by deductions. So if you have a rental property and offset 90% of the rent through interest, the bank could argue your income stream is only 10%.

You're right, I am self employed.

Yes, this is correct. However, I've seen some T&Cs state that you need to earn $XX, xx_X gross income before tax and other deductions in order to be eligible. That says to me that I should be eligible if I can show my pre-deduction income.

This isn't clear with the ANZ cards, though, as it just says 'minimum income' of $75k

Probably poor choice of words that has not been defined (perhaps they're referring to just a few very particular deductions like perhaps salary sacrifice). I'm not an accountant, but I think most would view your gross income as being after all cost of sale deductions but before income tax.

That seems accurate. Oh well. Looks like I'm applying for the ANZ Platinum instead...

I joined for the points. Now I am looking at how good this pair of cards are and they are reasonably generous.

As previously mentioned it could be worth going to a bank to discuss. I know of people only eligible for platinum on income but successfully applied for black range at other banks.

I just applied for this card a week or so ago (got my cards already!). I have salary and other income (company dividends) and from memory the application asked for gross salary and income from other sources separately. It did not ask for "deductions" or "taxable income". It then went on to ask about expenses etc. I part own and run a company, I never put self employed (as the company employs me) I always put senior Manager or Company Proprietor, etc depending on options shown. They never asked me to prove income in any way.

Nowhere near the QCUcc process over at ANZ.

Not even pay slips or ATO Notice of Assessment?

FYI - I had to supply pay slips, they were not interested in the copies i sent of my bank account with pay deposits and kept stating that is wasn't good enough. BTGW i received my 75K points today, received the card in November. Very happy with that.

Nope. Nothing. Told referred at time of application, next day received email saying approved, received cards within a week.

Maybe because I have had cards with ANZ before? Although not for several years and I don't bank with them.

How can you have received your card in November when this offer only opened in January?

Prior offer perhaps, which was $7500 min spend

Yes we are on the bigger spend offer which required one transaction and out popped the mother lode of sign on points.

I would see if you can apply for the Platinum. You should get limit offers shortly, once you reach $15k you can then transfer to the Black product online.

Not so great for the 75k bonus points I know....

So they're really strict with the 12 month existing customer rule?

According to reports, yes. Triggered by people applying for all 3 50k binus cards last year.
