According to reports, yes. Triggered by people applying for all 3 50k binus cards last year.

I'm a current ANZ employee. Maybe I'll call to see if there's any movement. They begged me to keep the card when I cancelled it.

After getting my cards last week, i called them to cancel them straight away. Seems they were well aware that I had held them within the last 12 months, as when they asked why i wanted to cancel them, i said that i probably wasn't entitled to the offer, the guy said yep you held the card in july last year.

He did confirm that i'd be entitled to the offer on the rewards black though as that's a different product.

I asked for a product transfer to save me from the veda hit, he said if he did that i wouldn't get the offer and would be charged the annual fee still.

He suggested just applying directly for that one and cancel the FF card, i asked if it'd result in another veda hit, he said yes. I asked if that'd put my application for the rewards black in jepordy, he put me on hold and checked with the assessment team, they said it doesn't matter.

So i went ahead with that plan, cancelled the FF black, applied for the rewards black. I am after velocity points moreso anyhow.

Correct that was the offer i was on. Sorry, i missed the $2500 part of the thread title. BTW I got my 75000 reward points this month too

Sort of new to this whole FF thing, so apologies for what may be a very obvious question. I signed up and was approved for this card - just awaiting receipt. My question is in relation to the complimentary Qantas Lounge passes. My plan is to cancel the card as soon as I hit the minimum spend and have the points conferred. Am I able to request the two lounge passes once I receive the card and then use them sometime later after I have cancelled the card? Or do I need to request the lounge passes in relation to a specific date and place?

Correct. This is being strictly enforced from what I can see.

Bit of an oddball here, i've got another non-rewards ANZ card that came with my home loan package - not a rewards card (Low rate Visa)... wonder if this will block 75k points on the black card?

Promised myself i wouldn't apply for any credit cards in 2016 - barely made it to Feb

Ah shoot, i just realised that i closed my last anz black card in june last year, not september the year before that like I had rememebered.

I got approved for my card yesterday, lets see how this pans out I guess. I suspect i'll probably be cancelling it within the first couple of days. Should've checked properly.

Just wondering if you have any further news on this situation? I also applied and was approved but closed my ANZ QFF card only a month or two ago. I'm going to call tomorrow to find out the nitty gritty but was wondering if you'd heard anything? Like you, I didn't exactly read the T&Cs!

I closed my last ANZ card 22 Jan 2015, applied for this offer 23 Jan 2016, approved straight away, received cards yesterday.

Yep, I received the card and paperwork, no mention of the first year free.

I called them and asked to be put through to retentions. I explained the situation and the person was well aware of when I last held this card and confirmed my ineligibility.

I asked if i could be product swapped to the rewards black card (prefer velocity points anyway) as i believe i'm eligible for that promo. He confirmed that I was eligible as the FF & rewards cards are seperate products, but doing a direct product transfer wouldn't make me eligible for the promo. I'd have to cancel the FF card and apply for the rewards card from scratch.

I asked if that'd result in a new credit hit, and would it make a difference to my application. He put me on hold and talked to the credit assessment team, he confirmed that it would result in a second hit to my credit file, but the assessment team wouldn't hold it against me.

Anyway, I cancelled the card, reapplied for the rewards black and have received the card and paperwork, clearly stating the first year waiver. No mention of the 75k points on the paperwork, but the FF card didn't say that the first time i applied for it in 2014 either.

Interestingly, being a veda subscriber I note no 2nd hit to my credit file, the first one is there but it's like they didn't bother to do a second credit check when I applied for the 2nd card.

I'm all over this as well, card arrived last Friday and immediately charged up 2.5k. Just the waiting game now i guess.

Think i might actually hang onto this card. The AMEX component seems to be a pretty decent catch all for a platinum edge companion. 1.5VFF Per $ (or 1.725 if ANZ once again participate in a 15% bonus transfer to VF). Would prefer a much smaller limit than the minimum of 15K though.

Oh the fun of splitting monthly spend via 5 VFF aimed cards i'm now running (plus maintaining local champion with a platinum edge).

I think i need a new hobby!

Not sure about that. But I did take 150,000 QFF points from them in 2015!

My welcome kit arrived the day after the cards. Just waiting on the PIN now.
