Can you upgrade the free flight to Business Class using Velocity points?

Not according to ANZ
https://www.anz.com.au/content/dam/...ures-air-travel-benefits-terms-conditions.pdf

7. You may not combine this Flight offer with any other
offer, promotion, discounted or non-standard rate, or
use loyalty points or payment to upgrade your Flight to
a non-economy cabin.

but i suspect we do get Status Credits (because they dont say you dont). See a poster a page or so ago, it would appear SC's are awarded based on Getaway (Restricted Economy)

14. You will not earn any loyalty points in the Velocity
Frequent Flyer program (or any other loyalty program
operated by Virgin Australia or its affiliates or partner
airlines) in respect of the Flight.

I was able to upgrade with a paid bid on a recent BNE-TSV trip, not sure about upgrading with points though. Also I received both the velocity points and the status credits for both flights, however I think this may have been an error. YMMV

Pointhacks currently have an offer for 80k velocity points with the travel adventures card. Applications by 14th March.

It was unfortunately my first rejection - too much churning I assume, equifax report didn't read well.

Sorry, didn’t like your rejection! Instead happy it’s been extended as I still need to cancel my ANZ black before applying

dont cancel, apply for it then call right away and ask for a split limit 6k of current card.

hmm, that's an idea. I don't want to pay the annual fee on the black which is due in the next couple of months so will be cancelling it soon

do a closure by consolidation of black card limit once new card is approved. win win

Okay, just applied for this, a great deal and the $225 annual fee is easily covered by the return flight with some generous options.

So is there no blackout period between applications for this one to receive the bonus points?

There is a 12month exclusion if you have held this card recently. Exclusion does not apply if you have held a Qantas or rewards card in the last 12 months.

Being a current holder of the ANZ Rewards Travel Adventure card (“RTAC”), or having held it in the previous 12 months makes you ineligible. Holding any other ANZ card, including ANZ Rewards card that are not the RTAC is fine.

How long should I be waiting for the email to link velocity account? Have only spent about $150 at the moment, does it come before/after meeting minimum spend?

Hilarious... I was declined for the ANZ Travel Adventures card promo, so I called as I over qualify according to their criteria and the computer/person/assessor had left a zero off my income... So now they are manually re-assessing it and I had to resend my documents. (self employed).
