I did research this a fair bit and I decided I was happy to:

AFAIK, there has been no talk by authorities in AU and most other countries to introduce such functionality.

The only places I am aware of (possibly more) that have done anything close to that are China (and its two territories Hong Kong and Macau) and South Korea.

It seems the current AU model's principles, which is very privacy protective, is intended to be used in a few democratic western countries.

I hate to correct you on a little detail... the app for HK is NOT for locals! That is only used for travelers arriving into the city for quarantine purposes only.. The locals are NOT using the app in any sense of the word like we are in Australia

That's why I said "close to that". I am aware of a practice there for "some" citizens to wear an anklet that traces their whereabouts. Agreed, not as bad as mainland China.

Mainland China is something to behold.. for me - sadly it brings me nothing but bad memories! :(

I may not be up to date, so is there any suggestion that having antibodies protects anybody?

I agree with you there. Just as some have proposed that an antibody test be required for free entry in and out of countries. Chicken pox parties comes to mind.

I think there will be more working from home for some industries but not in ours so much. And not in our sons employment either.

Not sure where you are in Aus... but if in Vic - keep warm as it is freezing here:eek:

If my memory serves me correct - still much debate and questions between the scientists on such theory... I would hope there is antibody, but no one knows if this theory is true or false conclusively

I think the virus is still teaching us a lot. And it's too soon to really tell but I did hear a quick message on the radio just now that there is more thought that antibodies may be protective.

So this is all covered under existing legislation?

Yes. It was signed into law the day the app was released by the health minister.
I’ve since found this from the ABC, where the Minister has used an instrument. Yet to be legislated (Parliament not sitting at the moment):

Well the PM just made it plain and simple. Paraphrasing, not verbatim:

If you are talking to your mates or on zoom with workmates or whatever you can tell them if they want to have some restrictions lifted next Friday they need to download and install the app. There needs to be millions more for it to happen.

Despite I wont do the download - I feel many more would do it in the hope of earlier easing of lock down :) . As I said before - I would leave no judgement for anyone who would do it as it is their choice, but I wont for my own reasons :)

Yes I just listened to the broadcast and the very clear message from him and Murphy is that they want to start lifting restrictions and will be discussing it next Friday, but they need millions more people to download the app.

it really is all about being able to quickly jump on any outbreak or hotspot so we don’t get a second wave.

I particularly found Murphy’s comment amusing. He was showing the Google data which showed how many people were staying at home. He had a throw away line about - Google tracks you but our App won’t :)

Was surprised that the hairdresser who really should have it does not because her husband who is in a high level security area in Defence told her not to as he is not allowed to. Interesting.

Just checked w' someone else in Defence who said no such rule had been issued to them.

Apparent temperature has been negative all day in Canberra. Been snuggled up under a doona all afternoon with the puppies. Am contemplating leaving my warmth to make an apple sponge pudding :)

Same story here with similar source. No issues.

Of course nothing at all can be installed on any Defence device. I think her husband is just bamboozling her as the PS comms tells people to install it on their personal device.

Edit, have told her that Defence / Govt actually asks people to load it on to their personal phones. She really should have it.

There is a video interview I saw somewhere from WHO circulating saying the jury is out, they wouldn't rely on it at this stage.

Sounds like your hairdresser might have not been listening to exactly what her hubbie said and made her own interpretation.
