Was surprised that the hairdresser who really should have it does not because her husband who is in a high level security area in Defence told her not to as he is not allowed to. Interesting.

Just checked w' someone else in Defence who said no such rule had been issued to them.

Those hairdressers need to get their customers out of that chair within 15 minutes, regardless. Just cut the hair and move them out. No washing, tinting, curling, straightening, etc. The customer can take it or leave it. Lucky to have the hairdresser open at all.

Not quite, I know he is overly cautious in a misguided kinda way. It's a case of some apps are OK, but only the ones I want to use.

Sounds like your hairdresser might have not been listening to exactly what her hubbie said and made her own interpretation.

Well his wife's mobile does not matter if he does not have it installed on his own phone as her mobile will not register his unless both have the apps. So to me it sounds like the husband is misinformed, or simply does not understand how the app works.

The story is most likely more complex than that.

I worked in a corporate environment (some gov depts are the same) where the company phone "environment" is centrally controlled and the user cannot download any apps that are not in the preapproved corporate suite which is only updated on an infrequent basis. Therefore "work won't let me download the app"

Depending on someones "security" rating in sensitive gov departments, they may have assessed the .0001% risk of bluetooth being hacked on his work phone they didn't want the people her husband hangs around with at work to be recorded in any format whatsoever.

Despite I wont do the download - I feel many more would do it in the hope of earlier easing of lock down . As I said before - I would leave no judgement for anyone who would do it as it is their choice, but I wont for my own reasons

Well, I was more thinking about her client's safety (ie me). But she is facing the back of people's heads and does not use the blower to even get rid of the irritating little hairy bits and stands well back at the counter. One use for the cape and lots of hand washing and sanitising. But, she needs the app.

Maybe hairdressers will be one of those businesses to open up in the near future.

Of course nothing at all can be installed on any Defence device. I think her husband is just bamboozling her as the PS comms tells people to install it on their personal device.

Edit, have told her that Defence / Govt actually asks people to load it on to their personal phones. She really should have it.

Hairdressers never had to close (or at least in Vic). The ones near me have been open the whole time.

Cases are low everywhere in Australia.

Only 1 unknown local transmission nationally so far today and most days of late it has been 1 or less.

I was not disagreeing at all with that aspect.

I was just commenting that even if her husband is Australia's Jame Bond that her having the app on her mobile will not impair his 007 duties as he will not have it on his and thus he will not show up as contact on her mobile.

On the surface, that would seem to be a worry. What do they do that takes that long.

No where in Australia has reported yet that they are free of, or have eradicated the virus. But yes we are getting close.

ACT has 0 cases at present, but this does not mean that there are not infected people still at large. There may be asymptomatic infected people, or people with very mild symptoms yet about who have not sought a test.

Remember too that every day essential workers are still travelling across state and territory boarders and any one of them could be infected and not know it.


We need more large scale testing yet of random groups to verify that we do not still have random infected people circulating. This is why Vic is looking to do 100,000 tests in the current fortnight.
