I did research this a fair bit and I decided I was happy to:

Mine is a 2 person business, one is doing 2 days and the other alternate days.

Mine is me. ;) I have been cutting my own hair for about two years now. Lithium clipper works a treat.

My wife has still kept going about monthly. Her favourite hairdresser was forced to return to Ireland as her visa could not be extended, and so the owner now ct her hair.

Nothing the good old basin cut. 😉

Over 60% of hairdressers are closed in my area of Brisbane, from what I’ve seen. Some of the rest are open on reduced hours (10am-4.00pm, or so). Not sure why. Maybe getting your hair done is low priority around here, and there is low demand, with almost no-one out and about anyway.
My SIL hairdresser decided to close weeks ago. The day that the restrictions were announced, someone in her salon threw an (unrelated to Covid) epileptic fit and that was enough to frighten her off. My hairdresser stayed open and she said she's picked up so many new clients she has been very busy.

Was surprised that the hairdresser who really should have it does not because her husband who is in a high level security area in Defence told her not to as he is not allowed to. Interesting.

Just checked w' someone else in Defence who said no such rule had been issued to them.

Defence is a big place. There are certain parts of defence where all electronic devices full stop can not even come into the building, and there are other places where they are pretty open slather. There are certainly some parts of defence where you're not even allowed to have personal social media accounts, so I wouldn't be too surprised if the hubby was told by a supervisor, either correctly, or simply under the assumption that a "tracking app" would fall under the no social media rule of the area which the person worked in.

Edit: That said I could image that the COVIDSafe app will quickly appear on the trusted apps list. Last thing they'd want is one of the secret squirrel area's of defence to be knocked out because the virus spread throughout.

Well, just keeping away from the backwoods. 🤣

On, no, more fake news then 🤣:

Coronavirus recovery: ACT becomes first state or territory to be free of known cases of COVID-19 - ABC News

Edited

No not at all. Though no need for the work known if the article, as there is no such thing as an unknown case.

What a case is and what an infected person is are two different things. You could have infected people in the ACT who are still contagious, but if they have not been tested while the virus is active in their bodies they will not be a case.

The number of people in Australia who have been infected is currently less than the number of cases.

No cases is a very good sign. But it is not a definitive sign.

He is at the level of the ‘leave yr devices in the lockable cabinet level - don’t bring them in’. Not even defence can force someone to load it onto their personal phone.

Well the PM just made it plain and simple. Paraphrasing, not verbatim:

If you are talking to your mates or on zoom with workmates or whatever you can tell them if they want to have some restrictions lifted next Friday they need to download and install the app. There needs to be millions more for it to happen.

Ah, so it’s not mandatory, but we won’t let you out otherwise.

As best I can tell, it’s stalled at a bit over 3 million installations. It’s going to take a much better sales effort to get it above that.

Covidsafe app requires iOS 10 and above. So it works on iphone 5 and above.

However the app still has bluetooth issues with iOS when in background mode.
Would not be surprised if the iphone version is dead in the water as we speak. Normally iOS prevents 2rd party apps broadcasting bluetooth signals in the background (app running but not on the screen)

Is there a test that everyone could do in order to confirm that the app is actually working as it’s meant (short of hanging around someone who we know to be positive for coronavirus)?

The long and short version of the answer (unless you are a techo and can break into and pour over the guts of an app) is NO.
