Enjoying the Aussie first innings - circumspect start and very watchful of anything wide of the 4th stump. Now Warner is starting to open his shoulders - 50.
Cheese, quince paste, crackers and a red wine - lovely accompaniment to the cricket

Wow, a full opening session without a wicket - 0/82 is a good start. A bit of swing, a nice bouncy pitch which hasn't helped their LBW shouts

When they passed 60 without loss I expected a cheer.

Imagine if they'd just hung in there in that debacle of an innings and not tried to hit the cover off every wide delivery. Too little too late sadly. We used to let the Poms win a dead rubber in the good old days so if Australia gets up it's no real sign of a revival. That said, I'd enjoy it anyway. After the last two Tests I'd enjoy a draw!

Ok I can sort of understand pom commentators using Miles per hour, but seriously the Aussies using the bloody empirical system!

Bring on Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. We are ready to bully them.

Strange decision to win the toss and bowl.

The decision to bowl was because of the grassy pitch which gave assistance to the bowlers early and with expected overcast conditions, the Poms wanted to wipe us off the pitch again. This time they failed. Poor Clarke was h only one to fail

Well quite a good day for us so far. I'd have given you long odds before the match of getting 475 - great innings today from Voges, Starc and in particular Smith.

Lyon just bowled the perfect ball :D

Time for bed now

I woke up this morning, checked croc info and rubbed my eyes to make sure they weren't deceiving me cove. Then I let out a "Oh my God, yes!". My wife thought it was something important 8/107.

Where was Siddle all series?

Shouldn't Starc bat at 6 or 7? Looks better than Marsh or Johnson.

Interesting stats in that Root has averaged 60 for England but no other Pom has averaged much over 30.

What's been disappointing about this series is that day one seems to have decided every Test except perhaps the first Test. Once a team gets the ascendancy the other can't get back into it. It's a pity it wasn't 2-2 going into this Test.

They said on the radio commentary at one point that Starc averages 60 if he gets past 10.

What a topsy-turvy series!

Watched it until 3. Excellent.

Where have you been my cricket team!

This was the form I expected and was the effective rankings from both teams at the start of the series. Where [expletive deleted] have Australia been.

Sigh... Another 4 years to wait now. Again!

See if we can bully them some more this test to get our batting and bowling averages up and that should put some plaster over the cracks for another 18 months.

Bring on Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. We are ready.

I don't think there is a single cricket expert in the world that agrees with sending us in to bat. Same with Clarke in the third test.

I'm just curious if we might see the first Aussie team enforcing the follow on in goodness knows how long. Can't say the bowlers need a rest after they've done barely over a session!

Clarke's last test. For once, why not change the habits of a lifetime of captaincy and make the right decision. Grind them into submission.
