Not out - his bat hit the top of his pad!! What a crock. No hot spot, audio showed the noise before the ball passes the bat. Who was that bloody idiot 3rd umpire...there should be an immediate complaint lodged to the Match referee.

DRS is bollocks. As I have said before, if the 3rd umpire has the slightest doubt it should be not out, just like a real time decision.

Rogers out short of what would have been a deserved hundred.

3/129

Smith has had a life....

Indeed, it's about time some of the luck went our way. The poms used their 2 reviews up too early to no avail and when then really needed one, it wasn't there :D

Nice to see Clarke make a century and Smith the half. Finished the day off nicely at 3/303. Clarke on 125 and Smith 70.

Great start from Australia.

Some confidence back in their batting. Can the bowlers do their tricks?

Ahh we'll tit for tat ! England's Trott got a shocker so lets balance up the ledger !!! Ha! Ha! Could somebody please tell the 3rd umpires that the DRS is not about protecting the on field umpires decisions but to try and eliminate the howlers they sometimes make in the middle !!

When decisions are made, just by the umpires out on the ground, I can accept bad calls, that's a part of cricket. But that technology is used specifically to remove the bad calls, then *it* fails, now that's a major concern and I think Australia has a fair grievance in this case.

All the other DRS fails in this series have been about the rules in the use of the technology, this one was different.

Well I went to bed hoping for 2-300 but expecting all out for 180 and England 0-120. Looks like the optimist won for a change!

Here's hoping they can keep putting on runs then have Warner and Haddin come in and smash it around and we declare on 550. (warning: optimist talking again!)

The problem is that we need to win this Test - so need to dismiss England twice, which on this pitch, looks unlikely unless our spinners really use those footholes

But there is a big difference for batsmen when chasing a total over 400 than a measly total under 250 .

It seems like a pretty cough pitch, they already had to fill in holes in the run up on day one.
