ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

I wonder if they can do that. If you are tracking and operating your card as you have in the past and no prior notification has been received then something doesn't seem right.

Of course they can; they make (up) the rules, why not put in clauses to allow then to change them at will??!! Do you seriously think they hire the best lawyers in land to draw up T&Cs so airtight (for the benefit of their customers) they cannot change (and enforce) them at drop of a hat? Seriously?

Rather than rock the boat, I just moved the google to NAB Velocity Amex so still getting 1.5pnts Did 150k in ATO today on Altitude so looking forward to the nice earn.

Don't stress all I'm not a newbie ;) Established member, check my post count! Won't call and potentially ruin for all. Will wait and hopefully a glitch.

Ok so I had to call but there were other transactions so I didn't ask about ATO just points in general.

For some reason 'the link' was broken and they fixed it.

All points reinstated.

All good!

Buzzard you could buy multiple properties and go LAND TAX instead which tends to be a wealth tax run by State Governments.
Payroll tax really hurts as you basically have 19 staff and the twentieth is the phantom called payroll tax. If you have 190 staff it is 10 times worse.

Trouble is politicians of all persuasions want to get (re)elected & the voters in marginal electorates who decide elections won't have a bar of it.

I know this would have been discussed previously but forgive me for not going through the 360 pages of this thread completely. Simply want to know which banks currently award points for ATO payments. The three that I know of at the moment are:

1. Citibank (no longer, thanks Cove).

2. Westpac
3. ANZ

Do AMEX (non bank) issued cards also award points for ATO? What about NAB, CBA and others? Also do any banks impose caps on how many points they will award on ATO payments?

Thanks

When you missed reading 358 pages you missed Citibank stopping points on ATO. I did a speed reading course and you could benefit from such a course.

I still have a Citi Select and I still get 1:1. Was going to get Mrs to get a card also to see if the new card would do it, but went with the ANZ black at .75 for M/C & V
Slowly trying to change all cards over to the 1:1 banks and definately avoid any Amex issued cards, however the bank issued Amex are sometimes handy if you dont mind the extra fee to accumulate quickly at 1.5 :1 but at nearly 3 times the cost, ie it comes down to cost verses time to reach a given result.

The black Amex is 1.5 points per $ isn't it....

So they stopped paying points for card members that joined after a certain date but others (old customers) still get points for ATO?

Nab Amex and Westpac Amex work a treat. Yes, high fees but I work it out to be 2.4k In fees which = 1x J class return to Europe.

$2400 in fees isn't very far off from what one would pay to buy points and fly to/from Europe in J is it?
