ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Here's what the QCU card application questions look like for an employed person.

In response to your recent request for a credit card application, please see below for documents that we require for assessment purposes:

Your last 3 payslips
3 most recent statements of each credit card/store account that you hold – regardless of how much is owing
A recent 6 month statement of each personal loan/car loan/home loan that you have as well as transaction listing from statement end date to current
A rental income statement for each property that you own that is tenanted
A 6 month statement of the savings account that your pay is deposited to and a transaction listing from statement end to current

** please ensure all statements contain name, address, balance owing and credit limit where applicable**

Kind regards,

Good Lord! I'd need to hire a removalist to deliver the application ;)

Probably not worth it as I have an ANZ Black and two CBA Diamond cards (other than Visa/MC transactions that will earn 1.0 point rather than 0.625points per $)

I've already got too many cards

too much accounting to do!

Pretty much the same. Options for alternating 1.5/$ & 0.75/$ if I want to use Visa + 1/$ for non ATO Visa transactions.

As a company director/business owner, BankMECU asked for:

- 2012/ 2013 and 2013/2014 full company and individual tax returns and tax assessments
- Rental income statement
- 3 months credit card statements
- Home loan statements
- Cancellation letter (apparently they want to cancel my other card for me... No thanks)

Not too bad, but not sure I can be bothered. As for them cancelling my other card, not too happy about that prospect...

Surely the application is just to consider your credit-worthiness? If you make enough I'd just skip all the other documents and maybe say I have 1-2 other cards.

The last time I had to provide such detailed info was for a mortgage. I've told QCU it's not worth the effort just for a credit card.

Hi all, first post and sorry to ask this. I have read and searched this thread but I can't find an up to date answer.

I have a Westpac Altitude Black and a $200k ATO bill to pay (business taxes). Will I earn points? At what rate?

Cheers

Don't have exact detail, sorry, but pretty sure Westpac reduced the earning ratio on ATO payments in the last few months... they did at least on the Earth Black...

The earn rate has decreased recently; now 1.5 Altitude points/$ for the Amex and zero for the Visa. So it is not a great card for ATO payments these days.

The way points earning at the ATO is being enhanced out of existence on multiple credit cards makes me think we are heading towards end times.

A little confused on what points/ per $ are you referring to re ATO payments?

0.75 points on which card for ATO?

Or are you referring to non ATO?

OK Altitude black Amex earns a net 0.75 frequent flyer points as the Altitude points halve as you transfer them from Westpac warehouse to your chosen frequent flyer account like Kris Flyer or some other account. Forget using the Black Visa unless you want to earn a zero quantity of points.
i think Diners is run by Citi so no points possible there on any of their cards for ATO.

Not so sure unless there has been a very recent change. I did a small test on the Diners Visa late last year and points duly arrived. Shocking earn rate though.

There still seems to be plenty of confusion about the current status of which cards can earn FF points when paying ATO bills.

I just called Westpac yesterday about adding an Altitude Black Amex card to the Black MasterCard I already have (no extra fee) , as the MC doesnt give me a very good FF pts earn rate whereas the AMEX card supposedly does (1.5 pts /$) but then I must pay the higher ATO cc card fee fr using Amex. I am still assuming the Altitude Black Amex is uncapped ??

It seems the rules are constantly changing and that various CC companies can (at their whim) decide if they will allow the points to accrue to your FF account or not. I think if you hit them with a very high charge (like the $200K above) you might be in for a shock and once its paid, and they have charged you the card fee, you are screwed if you dont recv the FF pts, when you could have paid with cash and not been charged a fee. Its a lottery it seems ????

I'm happy to be corrected but my understanding is:

*ANZ Black AMEX is ok.
*CBA Diamond Amex is ok.

*NAB Premium Amex - not sure ???

It's not a good idea to discuss the payment of ATO to get points, with cc companies. Best to just keep reading and see what others have found.

Forgot to mention with the Westpac cards you need to specify if you want the Altitude Points or the QFF points when you sign up. And no I never discussed the ATO FF points issue with the CC company.

I was playing catch up to Mrscove on Qantas FF points and did finally get points for ATO from my WOW card. That was a relief as the points were very slow in arriving so I was thinking that I may have tubed about $700 after tax and received dust. Now I am all smiles seeing it still worked at a point a dollar.
