ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

My Westpac Krisflyer CC statement today had bad news (as also posted against that card). May need to revise my strategy, at 1.25 points not sure this worth the 1.48% fee.

EFFECTIVE 1 APRIL 2015, THE EARN RATE ON THE
SINGAPORE AIRLINES WESTPAC PLATINUM AMERICAN
EXPRESS CARD IS CHANGING AND YOU WILL EARN 1.25
KRISFYLER MILES PER AUD$1 SPENT ON ELIGIBLE
PURCHASES USING THAT CARD. THERE WILL BE NO CHANGES
TO THE EARN RATE ON YOUR SINGAPORE AIRLINES WESTPAC
PLATINUM VISA CARD.

I also use the SINGAPORE AIRLINES WESTPAC PLATINUM AMERICAN
EXPRESS CARD

The Statement that I received that day had no such notation. Does that mean that some (incl me) missed the enhancement?

I suspect not, will almost certainly be on your next statement.

Why, yes. . I made my thoughts known on this in the appropriate thread. Non 'Emirates' routes get uniformly no reduction, and some other biz fares also get zero.

And this was sold to us as great news.

Just as a reference point, after the demise of Westpac Altitude Black, I applied for and received the ANZ Rewards Black, which at the time was fee-free for the first year plus 25K (ANZ Rewards) points. The sign-up bonus has not been received yet, however this thread is about the suitability of credit cards for ATO payments and I am happy to confirm that my (small tester) payment on Monday afternoon did accrue points, and I will now continue using this card for the other payments that are due soon. I hope this helps some around here...

Earn rate? Amex? Visa?

Sorry: AMEX, earn rate 3 ANZ points per $. But I am quite certain that the redemption rate (to VA and SQ at least) is not as good as Westpac Altitude so it is not a 1.5 points per $ scenario. I admit I haven't looked into these details yet but I could not pass on the opportunity to earn points as long as it lasts...

ANZ Black Rewards transfer at 2.25 - 1 VA makes the AMEX = 1.33VA Per $ if my maths is ok

I started making payments on the quarterly BAS due this month. Unfortunately, our business CC's are NAB QFF and only give 1pt/$1.50. I should still see ~112K pts at the end of the month though :)

I was just about to cancel my HSBC card yesterday as I'm moving away from QF when what should drop through my inbox but an offer for 6 months interest free. The offer finishes before card renewal time so free money. Good result but wish I hadn't reduced my credit limit 3 months ago. Might be worth bearing in mind before reaching for the "titanium scissors TM".

Might need to share those titanium bladed scissors with others based on NAB report today regarding no points earn. I don't have any NAB cards so I have no first hand experience.
