ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

It was 1.5 points for a dollar so that boosted my sons stash. He has a healthy balance now boosted by a 50k sign on plus ATO points. I let him pay some ATO because I was feeling generous.
I am heading off today so please keep paying while we are in the US.

I mentioned earlier that my NAB premium cycle isn't until 16th so I couldn't verify if points were being awarded, but a client with a cycle to 25th has just advised he got full points on the transactions last month.

Excellent, good to know, and thanks for the timely update.
My NAB card came in the mail yesterday, hopefully PIN/activation on Monday so I can pay my BAS on Tuesday.

Have we got a wiki or a list of cc's which are paying good points for ATO payments? 436 pages is a lot to get through!

To the best of my knowledge.

ANZ Qantas FF Black Amex: 1.5 points per dollar.
NAB Premium Qantas Amex: 1.5 points per dollar.
CBA Diamond Amex: (Effectively) 1.5 points per dollar.
BankWest Platinum ???

I think issue might be limited to certain banks. I was trying to spread the love around & tried a small one on my DC MasterCard over the day with same link down error. I'd called ATO web helpline and they weren't aware of any problems & weren't inclined to investigate despite payment not working when they tried manually over the phone.

Ended up putting it all through CBA on web which worked fine - although the website was slower than usual to click over to the payment confirmation & receipt # page.

Hope this helps some of you with alternatives get payments through on time.

Paying on WOW card still not successful.

I can report that ATO payment via the EDR CC is now working.

I just made my (last) payment using this card.

I'm moving on to the HSBC card.

Bye EDR.

Nothing for velocity points?

CBA diamond can convert to velocity. Can wait until the next bonus to transfer. Be mindful CBA diamond is capped at 1m points pa ($333kpa spend on Amex).

I payed using my EDR CC a week ago. Do you have to wait till the end of the billing cycle before points come through?

NAB velocity premium works for me. 1.5 ppd and $100k spend pm

ATO accepted NAB Velocity for me yesterday too. I'm only aware of 1 report of a NAB card not posting points and it was for 6-figure sum

Am I correct in thinking that the ATO will accept payment on any card - but the doubt is about: Will the CC providor pay points on that ATO transaction?

You nailed it :)

The years I've been paying cash to pay our company tax bills. I kept trying to pay by credit card but it said it was a cash withdrawal which clearly I didn't want. And then this thread and the credit card link popped up.

There was a problem with the ATO website on Friday where some cards got a message saying that their 'financial provider didn't support payment'. Not sure if this was a temporary glitch as my NAB went through OK
