ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Sorry - I wasn't very clear.
They are two separate options. This time I will try and pay the lot on my dragon. If I get in trouble and they suspend / cancel my card, I now (thanks to coriander) have the ATO set up in RewardPay to pay with my Amex Explorer in the future. Fingers crossed it all works out and thanks for everyone's kind advice.

Certain limited Gift cards sold by your convenience store have a surcharge of $3 per $100. Coupled with ATO surcharge, the sucharge would be 3.15% per $1 paid to ATO, but it would be @ 3 ppd with certain amex flavoured cards. Would any be happy for 3ppd @ 3.15% surcharge? I have checked last week and it seemed ATO hasn't banned them yet.

If I am understanding this correctly, it would only be 2 ppd at the convenience store, not 3...?

Come on people. ATO is on its last legs....can we pls use some discretion so as not to speed up its demise?

We talk in code for a reason. Babysofy, any chance of editing your post to a dragon reference instead of the full product?

To answer your question, it is a good summary, except that you have missed rewardPay for AMEX.
I hope that St ******* does not slay the dragon. I got it about 2 months ago and been paying a bit of BAS & GST with lots more to come in the next 6 months. That was the only reason I picked it up. If that bites the dust I will simply EFT through BPAY and not worry about chasing anyone else

So with the demise of the Only1 I am looking at future options

For direct payment it looks like kanga-cash is best value at 0.60c/pnt but very low earn rate.
BW Whirl'd similar cost at much better earn rate - but invite only.
For a higher cost - Dragon Sgntr or BW Plt at 0.77c & 0.80c/pnt have better earn rates.

Indirectly - The DP option looks good (i don't have large bills, so $1k limit not too much hassle) - can get 0.64c/pnt on my existing altitood black m/card or with a new 1ppd card, this comes down to 0.40c/pnt

Looks like I'm needing a new visa/master 1ppd option!

I have been thinking which of course is dangerous.....
Westpac Kris Amex finishes April 3rd so I might go for a pre-pay. Wonder if bells ring if I do a 7 figure payment.
I must say this thread gives me a buzz.

I’m tempted to Pre pay too on Coles for same reason .

Cove, in your experience paying large sums of public benefit dollars via various CCs, for those that include a clause excluding points earn for txns for 'business purposes', have points always managed to post? No concerned calls from issuing banks about 'suspiciously high amounts'?

I think I got started almost 9 years ago. Early on I did get some phone calls but nothing that I can recall for any of the three of us in the last two or three years. Same thing for our business partners who are paying ATO.
The call Mrscove received this week was to do with a Euro payment for a Madrid University and that was from the credit card fraud detection office. Fortunately it wasn't a problem and I was happy with 0.6358 exchange that earned frequent flyer points.
All the money we pay seems to run the country for a micro second or two.

Good to hear :)

Some of the bigger (6 & 7-digit) txns the folks put through on the CMC recently have been taking a really, really long time (10 business days and counting) to post - nothing yet. I obviously don't want to call them to chase up, as they can easily play the 'oh, but this is obviously a business expense and we don't allow that' card.

I cannot remember which cards now, but I do remember various posters reporting that that they had been pulled up on large business spend on non business cards.

I guess I can't (and won't) complain given it's technically against T&Cs. However, it would sting nonetheless, as the surcharge (itself in the 5-digits) would not be recoverable.

Made my last fiscal payment on CMC today. Goodbye old friend.

My points from previous payments have come through. Hoping despite the weekend that today’s effort will post.

My last load via BPay into credit took 2 days to show up. Was starting to worry they’d blocked it. Won’t need to worry about that anymore.

I decided to keep the numbers more reasonable as more entries don’t cost more if you have time to spare. I used multiple cards and I am about a third done.

Unfortunately time is that one thing money can't buy...

Here's hoping they come through. Otherwise, there goes a heavy chunk in surcharges :(
