That's about the only thing that is going to work on this once again terrible MCG pitch.
They are complaining about it on the radio. I thought one more bad rating and it was going to lose matches? Surely not!

Either way. Geez it is a bad look for Test match cricket.

Let's hope the changes the MCG are making to their drop-in construction (they are making them the same as Adelaide & Perth) makes a difference, as this pitch along with it's recent predecessors have been absolutely woeful.

I suspect, it’s the drop in wickets that are part of the problem. No deep roots here ...

Also, as for Melbourne, in the public area here is a display about fhe Melbourne olympics. They Lowered and flattened the playing arena by 2.5 metres removing the ground slope to play soccer and hockey on it. I never knew. Hence why the MCG is flat not sloped like Sydney

Agree the drop-in wickets are the problem.

From listening to some interviews they think it is that they're placed in those 'containers' with no option for the roots to grow. Whereas with the Adelaide & Perth upgrades, it seems like they've used a new technique where it also now allows root growth through the containers and believe it will result in better drop-in pitches. I guess we will see - Adelaide certainly seems like not a bad pitch nowadays for a contest between bat and ball.

The thing is, it's all warranted. If you do not perform at a domestic level after performing so poorly at an international level, the criticism of both them and the selectors is completely warranted - Mitch marsh getting selected for this test match is quite frankly the worst of the lot in recent past, and that is saying something!

Shane Watson: 35 with the bat 33 with the ball
Mitchell Marsh: 26 with the bat 42 with the ball

A dull, boring pitch makes for dull, boring cricket. Not only do the bowlers have trouble taking wickets but the batsmen find scoring more difficult. Unfortunately all the protestations that this pitch would be an improvement on the last few seem to have been unfounded. Of course, we are yet to see the Indian bowlers have a go they may be able to get some life out of it.

Another short short pitched ball by coughmins sees a glove down the leg side and OUT!

Wasn’t sure from where I’m sitting but replays confirm gloved
