Australian Cricket Season 2023-2024

Should we be concerned that 2 of the 3 wickets so far (both pretty obvious ones) needed to come from reviews? The last wicket of Crawley had a massive change of trajectory and a big bit of noise to boot, and still wasn’t given out [on the spot]??

the lbw by the naked eye looked like it had pitched outside the leg stump DRS to the rescue

the caught behind was a short half thumb - surprisingly crawley the batter had allowed his thumb to protrude insteed of wrapping it around the bat handle and got a bees dwick of a touch on the way through - DRS saved again

LBW looked absolutely plum to me in real time.

With Rassie Erasmus out there, I reckon review will be the best way of getting a correct decision...need to not waste reviews!

Even the puddy-cat here is now at least looking towards the TV set but doubt she's actually watching

England should have batted one more over. It's not often a team scores 400 on the first day of a test match.

I like the idea of ‘a bit slow’.

Stokes came out before the series saying they’d be preparing good batting strips, which would favour his sides aggressive batting plans. The current English philosophy is to score quickly and use that ‘scoreboard pressure’ to hopefully affect the play of their opponents. Personally I’d react to that by trying to keep the English in the field for as long as possible with minimal risk batting. They have older bowlers in Broad and Anderson and a constant risk proposition from his body if Stokes has to bowl, so make them do that for as long as possible.

Pity that Loosebuschange played a completely unnecessary shot first ball; Smith got a good ball and Head played a typical rash Head shot, as those guys had the potential to keep England in the field for three days. Just want I’d like in the first test of a five test series!

Australia just need to bat out most of the day - bit obvious, but make it England's game to lose on an actual turning track. Moeen turning a few would have Lyon licking his lips, come day 4 the difference in quality of spin options would hopefully show.

I watch cricket on FTA delayed to skip the mind numbing stupid repeat ads. WCMO is channel 9 swapping test cricket between 9hd and GemGD so I missed the early sessions yesterday and today. FFS pick a channel and stick to it for the series or give it over to Kayo or the ABC.

Don’t understand most of your abbreviations but I get the gist.

It’s all about ratings and maximising their revenue (fair enough, too — they’re in this to make money). They put what will rate highest on the main channel. So in NSW and Qld they put the rugby league on Nine and the cricket on Gem. In Vic, SA etc they put the rugby league on Gem and the cricket on Nine. In WA they put the news on Nine and the cricket on Gem, then after the news/ACA they put the cricket back on the main channel.

Nine did this in 2019 as well. I must admit it doesn’t particularly bother me but if it bothers you, stream it on 9Now.
