I grew up in Sydney and although Kick a Vic was never heard there was fierce rivalry between NSW and Victoria.

We are above this sort of thing here. ;)

Never heard it used in NSW at all.

Victoria who?

The only rivalry reported here is the NSW v QLD one - and I'm not just talking about Rugby League.

It makes sense that Sydneysiders doesn't know about this. It all started on Aussie Rules State of Origin ...

Ironically that shirt would be shipped from Melbourne LOL.

However given NSW has just about no interest in Aussie Rules, it makes perfect sense that you have not heard of it.

And another trying to dodge HQ, Queensland certainly seems to be attracting a certain type of Victorian during this latest lockdown.

From ABC Blog:

Man allegedly tried to escape hotel quarantine in Cairns by scaling the building

Police are investigating after a 29-year-old man allegedly tried to escape hotel quarantine in Cairns by scaling the building.

Police say the man arrived from Victoria this morning and went straight into hotel quarantine.

It's alleged he tried to escape about 11:00am by climbing over the balcony where he injured his legs.

Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young said he's now in hospital.

"A gentleman did try to climb out of the balcony they were on and then fell and was taken to the Cairns base hospital."

Not above playing music to entertain visitors though. I was in rural NSW last year, in a hire car with Victorian plates. I got quite used to the sound of banjos..

Culturally QLD and NSW are aligned as is VIC and SA. Probably doesn't hurt that's the way the sports splits as well. Yes there is rivalry between Melbourne and Sydney both being the two largest cities but the culture is really different.

My thoughts anyway.

Yes it is a South Aussie thing, including this amusing Covid-comedic take.

Ironically many decades back my then Victorian based manager, who was SA born and who also was ex SANFL umpire, would get his Victorian number plated car "keyed" if he ever drove it to game when back home visiting.

We used to stir him though that it that it was really due to him being a former umpire ;)

But yes if I did go to game in Adelaide, if the company car I was driving had Vic Plates, I would catch the bus instead.

ABC News tonight reporting the Vic to Qld via regional NSW couple have been fined 4K each for lying on their form to enter <redacted> Queensland.

Western Sydney, again.

——

NSW Health’s ongoing Sewage Surveillance Program has detected fragments of the virus that causes COVID-19 at the Camellia North and Camelia South pumping stations in Sydney’s western suburbs.

NSW Presser:

2 new cases. Woman in her 40s. Walks regularly through Wesfield shopping centre. Gentlemen in his 30's (will be in tomorrows numbers). Also visited Westfield.

Based on CCTV Westfield fleeting case was no more than seconds near the driver.

From ABC:

Minister Hazard says anyone who was in the near vicinity of an infected case is at risk

The Health Minister says one of the cases had very minimal contact with the limo driver.

"The gentleman became infectious, gentleman his 50s, was no more than seconds in the near vicinity of the limousine driver in the original case.
"It would appear he was somewhere in the range of between 10 and possibly 50-60 centimetres away in a passing situation.
"Each had stood not far away from each other for a very short period of time and then it would appear that one of them possibly moved through the airspace that the other one had occupied.
"That is becoming a fairly accepted situation now that this is the type of crossover event that can occur.

I thought fleeting contact was fake news ;) 😂

You mean Sutton's post-contact tracing reports being called "bs on the claims around fleeting contact" ( Not sure what the current ratio is Victoria, but it was about 1 in 8 that were reported as likely to have been by fleeting contact).

Hazard today:

'It is fair to say that this delta virus would appear to be a near and present danger to anybody who is in the vicinity': Hazard
