Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Could this be why so many returning Aussies are testing positive in HQ?

It’s very easy to do. Hardly surprising. People are desperate to get back and getting a real test to land in the correct timeframe is hard and sometimes expensive. Honestly I can’t blame people for trying.

So Qld Cases (who it turns out was not an Emirates FA!!!) caught it within the HQ, from an aircrew member who was on a different flight.

So even allowing for the newer genomic testing results, reporting yesterday from Qld Health was not accurate on a number of points.

Plus the Qld Health early assumptions made on the case were quite questionable.

This case does demonstrate that it is good to have HQ genomic tests results done as they occur as that way if a possible HQ breach does occur, you will know this earlier.

EDIT NOW ADDED. There are two women in their 50s (One in the north, and one in the south). This is the second one.

Well would be OK if her term as Governor were to start next week. But we have to wait until November 1st.

The perfect example of the Peter Principle in action.
This is a worthy reward, for her role as PalAZczuk's puppet, pretending AnnA'Z power play narrative was actually "health advice". I think she was at Peter's plateau in her last role.

Please let it be true, shunt the CHO off to a role no one cares about with no power. Perfect. Sooner the better.

So back on Sydney Bondi outbreak, does anyone know if you are in Syd HQ are you exempt from the VIC orange zone requirements when returning? I imagine there are lots of people in HQ in this situation now!

You beat me to it.

the latest Sydney reports have a Sutherland Shire couple who have been isolating now positive. Given there have been no shire sites listed they must have been doing the right thing.

How unsurprising given picked up 14 days after the flight.

This has been the case in the past, provided you take private transport cab/uber directly to the airport (masked the whole way).

The last 4 Sydney cases were all close contacts and all already isolating.

I wasn't able to watch the update today as was in a board meeting, but did they give an update on the Baulkham Hills guy form last week with the weak positive who they though might be a false positive?

Not really.... I think they are taking appropriate steps to try and limit the spread but as the NSW CHO keeps on saying the index case appears to have been transmitting it in very fleeting interactions which is irritating 🤪

I was being sarcastic there 😉

We’re 18 months into the pandemic. I believe the vast majority of the vulnerable have now been offered vaccination? 25% of the adult population has received one vaccine dose.

It’s time to allow the virus to circulate and begin assisting with natural immunity. The risk of serious illness or death has now been massively reduced. Who knows when we’ll be prepared to make that call. History would suggest it won’t be soon enough.

Yes, as long as you go straight the airport after HQ (IIRC using private transport), you are exempt from orange zone requirements. During the Northern Beaches outbreak we did this, no problems (although we didn't actually take any transport to the airport, we walked, as were only at the Pullman Sydney Airport).

I thought this was a joke, but nope it’s real. Well you would have to say she is very much a Queensland partisan - “Queensland hospitals are for Queenslanders”.
I am surprised she is allowed to be the Governor. She was brought up in Sydney! Don't you have to be marooon through and through?

And Queensland is for us Queenslanders. I'm off to Noosa for the week; less pesky Victorians filling up our restaurants over the holidays 😂
Except when there are fewer restaurants due to business closures.

And not just the three residents will be able to return once recovered. The other evacuated residents will be able to return immediately.

I don't think it was reported in the media but other vulnerable residents were evacuated for precautionary reasons including one to my daughter's ward as they required assisted breathing at night. (The Covid positive patients were located at a different hospital) As the patient was from Arcare they was treated as a Covid Possible Patient and that meant heightened Covid Protocols for the Ward. Much to my daughter's relief those protocols have now been relaxed again as sustained heightened PPE protocols are uncomfortable and aspects like being able to drink when you want to are restricted
