Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

I think some people clearly think a wider lockdown might be on the cards and stocking up.

Possibly but makes no sense given supermarkets have never not been open. Even if they lock down the whole state you will always be able to grocery shop.

Probably the same nutbars who still have a million TP rolls from last years panic buying.

NT Chief Minister Michael Gunner said the man travelled from Bendigo in Victoria on June 7.

He was directed to quarantine in Queensland and was sent to a hotel. Mr Gunner said it was highly likely he caught the virus in hotel quarantine.
How sad. So it is almost certain this guy had nothing wrong with him until the Queensland bureaucracy got involved.

Agree, it seems panic buying knows no borders, it happens everywhere.... I hate how it impacts our elderly Etc who are less able to react quickly, stresses them out.

According to the media Limo driver (who possibly kicked off the latest outbreak), wasn’t vaccinated (at the age of 60), because he was scared of clots. So less hysteria about AZ and more attention to statistics and risk could have saved disruption of millions of people and an economic loss of probably billions by the end. Something to think about :(

Gladys just announced a 14 day lockdown (her words) for all of Sydney from later today.

Restrictions for the rest of NSW as well.

As one of the major front line workers - being with people fresh off a flight - in a closed environment - the car - he should have been vaccinated as one of the priority groups and with Pfizer. How many more ‘Limo drivers’ are there out there?

Glad that we went to Canberra for a trip during Queens Birthday long weekend. Originally we were planning to do it at end of next week.

Please don’t tar all young people with the same brush there are many absolutely desperate to be vaccinated.

Anyway, more on topic... 27 mins until the NSW lockdown update from Gladysin

I had seen the CDC figs for 18-26 yo. The USA figures show that young people are least likely to get vaccinated. Very many of them do get vaccinated it’s just that they are the least likely of the age groups. Maybe Aus 18-26 yo will take up more once they are able to get access.

Wonder how long VIC and TAS will hold out.... they’ve been the most measured...

EDIT:

Tasmania has graded all of Greater Sydney as red zone

The roads out of Sydney to the north coast are very very busy I think a lot of people are trying to beat the start of the lockdown.

They still have to lockdown in regional NSW for 14 days, and NSWPOL are pretty good at tracking vehicles on highways.

What an absolute joke. As the rest of the world moves on from this virus, Australia is now it arguably its worst position yet. I said a year ago we were just kicking the can down the road, and I take no joy in saying i told you so.

Never been so ashamed of my country.

I don’t know quite how the limo drivers work - seem to be in a different category. WA was saying their limo drivers don’t need to be vaccinated either and they were going to look at it. Weird - seems almost obvious that they should have to be,

My youngest brother is at Jindabyne and the town has been packed for the last couple of days. Businesses have been asking for ID and refusing service to those from the outlawed LGA’s. Police also doing the rounds
