No i disagree that hysteria is one of them.

The concerns younger people have re AZ are entirely founded and supported by the medical advice. You call it hysteria because you discount their valid concerns whilst at the same time providing excuses for why some in the older cohort haven't been vaccinated. A double standard.

Improved supply would achieve a higher vaccination rate. Having said that we have ample supplies of one vaccine not being used that we could be using. AZ hysteria is one of the reasons why it is not in more arms.

Ample supply of a vaccine which isn't ideal for most. Its not hysteria its people choosing to get the recommended safer vaccine.

Testing rates down because it's a Sunday, so likely that explains why cases are down.

FYI yesterday was actually a new record high for Sunday testing.

Good, happy for that. I would have thought in the intervening 12 hours or so a little bit of dissection and qualification by our various experts here might be value add, above what I can read from the numbers' release. But there you go.

I suspect it’s because QLD Health under the QLD CHO have made some very stupid, foreseeable errors in HQ which have sparked several outbreaks now... and AP is trying to mop up the mess/minimise future damage before we move our CHO on...

I don’t get the rationale just because you reduce intake by 50% you don’t reduce the risk by 50%.... a driver still drives crew to a hotel, we still mix low risk and high risk arrivals, we still don’t ensure staff next to a covid ward are vaccinated, we still put covid patients in a hospital ward etc etc. None of that has been marked to change.

Well the QLD Premier was more than concerned about the UK variant in January.

Which is exactly what Gladys said - halving the people doesn’t stop a mistake and an outbreak happening. It is all about paranoia and playing to the LCD. Blame it all on other people especially fat cats flying in and out the country and the mob will forget about unvaccinated staff.

I heard a senator on the news last night saying "Delta is probably not the last variant, we may see an Echo, Foxtrot or Golf Variant"

I guess unfortunate for him that Delta is both a Greek letter and a name in the phonetic alphabet.

We're already up to Lambda (or Lima if using the senators naming convention). My guess is they didn't use the phonetic alphabet as I (the NYC variant) is India and that would have been really confusing!

It's not a Labor v Liberal argument, TAS and SA are definitely in with the rest, not NSW.

It's pretty much just NSW vs everybody else. Interesting to note that even NSW ALP is quite supportive of Gladys with regards to covid. So no, I don't think this splits on party lines.

...which is why, if i recall it correctly, they moved to using Alpha, Delta, Kappa etc, along with the "geographical shaming" part of it.

Getting further off-topic, but we will have a Census in August - but that will probably take "forever" to get basic statistics out like population (meaning currently in Australia eg citizens, permanent residents, other visa holders). Apart from age, the plan is everyone in Australia regardless of immigration status can get the vaccine.
