Yes, AP was breathlessly talking about the dangers of the UK variant before - now simply "only the Alpha variant".I do find it mildly assuming when people refer it as "only Alpha"
Remember the scaremongering when it was called the UK variant?

You fail to understand that there are many factors at play
Improved supply would achieve a higher vaccination rate. Having said that we have ample supplies of one vaccine not being used that we could be using. AZ hysteria is one of the reasons why it is not in more arms.
"only the Alpha variant".
So why the need to reduce arrivals?
Testing rates down because it's a Sunday, so likely that explains why cases are down.
The numbers are always up to 8pm. I think there's nothing wrong with making a post like that with just the facts (number of cases).
So, just reports and no commentary and opinion then? This thread is after all the one on
Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Ms Palaszczuk has urged residents to think of the three-day-long lockdown as a 'long weekend'.
'We need to do this. I've accepted the strong advice from Dr Young,' Ms Palaszczuk said.
'If we do not do this now, it could end up being a 30-day lockdown.'
Anyone travelling from Brisbane into New South Wales will also be required to self-isolate for 14 days.
The UK mutation of Covid-19 has health authorities worried that if they don't act quickly, it may spread quickly in the community.
“All of these are the Alpha strains, so another piece of good news is that we do not believe that the Delta variant is circulating in our community which is excellent news, and it’s now two weeks since the Portuguese restaurant outbreak,” she said on Monday.
“At this stage, it’s all systems go, we’re feeling pretty, pretty good at where we are at the moment.”
Which is exactly what Gladys said - halving the people doesn’t stop a mistake and an outbreak happening. It is all about paranoia and playing to the LCD. Blame it all on other people especially fat cats flying in and out the country and the mob will forget about unvaccinated staff.I suspect it’s because QLD Health under the QLD CHO have made some very stupid, foreseeable errors in HQ which have sparked several outbreaks now... and AP is trying to mop up the mess/minimise future damage before we move our CHO on...
I don’t get the rationale just because you reduce intake by 50% you don’t reduce the risk by 50%.... a driver still drives crew to a hotel, we still mix low risk and high risk arrivals, we still don’t ensure staff next to a covid ward are vaccinated, we still put covid patients in a hospital ward etc etc. None of that has been marked to change.
Lambda variant is on the way according to Limited News today. It's been predominant for a while in Peru apparently but they're reporting on it now because SIX cases have been found in the UK. So we might be talking fondly about Delta soon.I hereby request we now change the name of the delta variant.Maybe the Happy variant. That shouldn't cause hysteria.
After 24 greek letters are used up, we'll be hack to Alpha One variant soon.Lambda variant is on the way according to Limited News today. Covid-19 Australia: Strain more transmissible than Delta hits Australia

Honestly there should be no vaccine privileges until at least 6 weeks after its open to all ages.
But we don't criticise Liberal premiers here. Only Labor ones.
...which is why, if i recall it correctly, they moved to using Alpha, Delta, Kappa etc, along with the "geographical shaming" part of it.I do find it mildly assuming when people refer it as "only Alpha"
