And a Tassie update from ABC News:

New exposure sites listed in Tasmania

Public Health authorities in Tasmanian have released a list of exposure sites a Launceston General Hospital health worker — who tested positive to COVID-19, two days after leaving Australia — visited between June 23 and July 2.
The list has been published on the government's coronavirus website this morning and includes the Launceston airport, a bottleshop, a Coles supermarket, and Salvos Stores in Invermay.
While most sites are in Launceston, others are in the south of the state at New Norfolk, Maydena, Cradoc, as well as the Pedder Wilderness Lodge.
Anyone who has visited the exposure sites during the times and dates listed online is considered a casual contact and should isolate immediately and call the Public Health Hotline to arrange a COVID test as a precaution.

You can find the full list here.

We are making all of the same mistakes over again. Hard lockdown on Monday including stopping construction.
I guess the difference between this outbreak and others in other locations is that most of the transmission is occurring between family and friends - arguably family contact is a lot higher in a lockdown than without.

I’m not sure there’s any evidence it’s spreading through essential workers, especially construction which is largely outside.

Turning up the dial is probably not going to work when people are already not complying with the existing rules.

Yep, I’m sorry but Essential means just that. Close all retail, cafes etc harsher restrictions/curfews required.

There’s a florist open in Manly…. Essential for Northern Beaches? Apparently there is a lot of confusion about what is essential or not in the small business community.

I'm pretty sure the "fight a pandemic with a narrative" approach has been thoroughly discredited.

The NSW approach is to restrict the shoppers not the merchants. This example was already raised and it was noted that florists need to be open for funerals.

If it continues to be a problem I think they’ll start restricting the merchants.

For me it’s simple. Medical and groceries only.
I don’t class cafes, Bunnings, K-mart etc as essential

This cluster and Berala cluster both had their first known case in an essential worker. Healthworkers in many clusters too.

Construction cases while not common occur. ie Most recent Melbourne outbreak.

I liken it to speeding and mobile phone use. Some just don't think these rules apply to them even with harsh penalties in place.

So Kerry says 79% of those in hospital are unvaccinated. I wonder how many of them have knocked back AZ and if they were wishing they hadn’t right about now

Sorry I genuinely don’t understand the point you are making - could you please elaborate?

“Dr Chant said of those hospitalised 79 per cent are unvaccinated, explaining: “Five have both doses of the Pfizer, but they were the Summit Care residents whose have been admitted for observation and monitoring.”

Action not words maybe?

My apologies, I meant being a significant method of spreading the virus - I’m sure one or two cases could occur but I wouldn’t think that would be worth shutting down the entire construction industry. It’s all about risk / benefit analysis.

Obviously I wasn’t including health workers - I’m sure nobody is suggesting we close down hospitals and health facilities.

I may be wrong but I understand most transmission in NSW at the moment is not from retail but from household to household. My guess is once someone brings it into their household everyone lets their guard down and the virus has an easy time to infect everyone.
Where as the only thing people are bringing home from bunnings and kmart is overpriced junk from china.:)
