Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Yes, but 1 dose would be on the full immunisation history statement (if the provider promptly uploads) - 2 dose would be the covid-19 digital certificate.

Fair point, I just checked mine (I've only had the first dose) and it's on the statement.

They don't want movement, that's the goal here.
I for one want some ironclad guarantees now that states won’t deviate from the national plan. Have started exploring UK citizenship options available to me as I have no faith that we will ever be able to cross a state border.

off topic

For less than a million you can buy citizenship in some small countries - but it will be a change in lifestyle and more suitable for upcoming retirees. Wait until Australia gets to 80% double dose to be let out is the first step.

back to numbers and press conferences

WA has already stated they are not abiding by National Cabinet outcomes even if 80%+ COVID vaccine coverage. They will take COVID Zero post Phase 3.

Need a ring of steel!!!!

Venue owners in regional Victoria say they're stilling getting visitors from Melbourne

Regional Victorian venue owners have been forced to turn away hundreds of Melbourne visitors in breach of coronavirus restrictions.

One Bendigo restaurant turned away more than 50 Melburnians over the weekend, while Warrnambool venues refused entry to more than one hundred Melburnians on Saturday night.

Ian Green is chair of Bendigo's Great Stupa Buddist site and says they had to be extra cautious checking IDs after groups of unwanted visitors.

Sounds like a "mockdown"... drinking runs, regional tourism, engagement parties? What's going on in Victoria?

WA just seem like crazy people, I know they live in the middle of no-where with no-one else to speak so but do they really think they can be the only part in the whole world that will manage to be covid zero till the end of time? whats in the water over there

Same as in QLD, NSW. People over it. Plus tonnes vaccinated and feel free. It’s overrrrrr!

I don’t get why the continued surprise or questions about the ‘why’… it’s clear as day.

Turns out Poland went public in the 2nd week of July that they were going to start selling 'surplus Pfizer doses'.

Starting with 4 million doses.

Australia had contacted the Polish Govt prior to July 13th about purchasing them after the Polish Govt went public with the offer to sell nearing expiry doses. Only 1 million were left by the time Australia made a decision. Portugal & Spain bought 1.5 million Pfizer & got them last week.

Under contracts signed with the European Commission, Poland has at least 4 million doses available for resale outside the country.
"However, we plan to sell many more vaccines … even tens of millions of doses,” Kuczmierowski said.
Meanwhile, Australia and Vietnam have also expressed an interest in purchasing vaccines from Poland, according to the daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.

For some light relief (especially the Brad Hazzard 'Kyle appreciation society' around the 14 minute mark) the following may amuse.

Problem is where do you draw the line. It is obvious across Melbourne that people are simply fatigued to the extent that compliance can no longer match the health directions, and I am not so sure that a bigger stick is going to make an appreciable dent in that. Especially as more people become vaccinated themselves and they see their 'vulnerable' parents and relatives get vaccinated. Those in public health should be (probably are) acutely aware of this and have a very very short window in which to act. It is perhaps why we have seen domestic border closures move to being increasingly reactive and relatively strong in comparison to 2020.
I understand what you are saying but I don't want to live in a society where people consider it optional to follow the laws. It's the price we pay for living in a democracy.

ABC reporting curfew is under serious consideration in Melbourne.

I pondered this yesterday and still firmly believe it is among the absolute worst decisions they could possibly make. Open disobedience will be the result if they implement it, guaranteed.

I think so too, it would have similar reactions in Sydney and Brisbane if implemented. The time has passed for that now.
