From a state Premier pov it is currently falling on party lines, only Labour states have spoken out against opening up at 70% and 80%.

I was referring to the population, hence why there's an issue

I believe NSW ALP is supportive of opening up.

VIC’s big announcement today
What did they announce that was big? If it was opening appointments up to 16-39s both ACT and NSW did the same, so not unique nor big news, since the Feds cleared the way for jabs for all adults from 1 September last week.

Im not convinced, given the proportion of the state who have family overseas, that is a big driver. I know plenty of oldies who want to open up.

For those interested in Sydney/NSW LGA numbers COVID Cases By Council/LGA | COVID-19 NSW

Top 3 way ahead

coughberland streaking ahead at 146 cases - 983 for the week
Canterbury-Bankstown 111 cases - 822 for this week
Blacktown 86 cases - 651 this week

Dubbo still struggling 9 cases - 142 for the week

Some new-ish appearances
Lane Cove 3 case - 8 for the week
Hunter Hill 3 cases - 6 for the week
Wentworth (near Mildura) 2 cases - 3 for the week

Only 6 LGAs left untouched by Delta/Limo.
Same top 3, just a different order

Mosman LGA now left the group of LGAs untouched by Delta/Limo.

I must have been reading the table incorrectly yesterday I found a heap more LGAs untouched - 37 today.

Update on linked and isolating cases in Victoria. This is from the VicDHHS Dataset which is updated, but lags.

So for example the 10 unknown cases announced by tweet early this morning werduring the Vic Presser.e announced as all being provisionally linked

A new cluster in Lara. (Just to the NNE of Geelong. Effectively an outlying semi-rural suburb of.)

And if you do not have a Bunnings involved it is not a real cluster ;)

A woman in her 30s who had Covid-19 has died at her home in Sydney's west, NSW Health announced this afternoon.

"NSW Health extends its deepest sympathies to her loved ones," a statement from the department said.

"This tragic death is being investigated by the Western Sydney Local Health District and has been referred to the Coroner."

The woman, who was found unresponsive at her home in Emerton, brings the state's death toll in its latest outbreak to 75, and overall death toll since the start of the pandemic to 131.

Her death will be included in tomorrow's Covid-19 numbers.

Reporters asked about it at this mornings presser, but Dr Chant said she didnt have details yet.

We need to wait and see whether they had any underlying conditions, to find out if they died with covid vs from covid. Coroner will determine this.

The 15yo who died with Covid dies from meningitis not Covid, and another younger case had an undiagnosed heart condition. Headline wont tell the whole story.

Have to ask how does a 30something die at home...did they deteriorate that quickly?
Why not call an ambulance if your gravely unwell at home or/and at the point of close to death.

I have no issue with this, just don't understand how it's possibly, they must have other health issues, no?
Not suggesting it's fake or not covid by any stretch, just seems odd to me.

Its the second such case.

A younger male who was positive and getting welfare calls daily died a couple of weeks ago. Health team said on the last call he felt dizzy, when his wife (also positive) checked on him later he was dead. Covid can cause heart issues which can come on very quickly.

It was noted they suspected he may have had an undiagnosed heart condition.

I think there was another NSW death that was quite sudden as well. My recollection was a man in his 20s just recently married. I think this article is on that death

Oh I hope you are right about all of that @jakeseven7. I veer between feeling hopeful and feeling beaten down at the moment.

I am super hopeful because I’m watching infront of my eyes the numbers pouring into Vic as we speak :) We get the big states firing and freedom is within sight.

The big VIC announcement this morning will cause a snowball effect there too. Watch and see.

We are probably going to see a jump in cases due to the sudden return to wintery conditions (11C today vs 27C yesterday) it will mean more time spent indoors with windows closed, and we know its homes where it is spreading.

I am very surprised that my younger colleagues at work have been quite enthusiastic about the vaccine. One of them (<40) heard from somewhere that there are Pfizers available at the Exhibition Building here in Melbourne today for walk-ins and she asked if she could quickly go and get it. Not stopping her!

I think people are at home anyway, not sure it will make much difference.

A great article from the Ethics Centre regarding the case of vaccines - should they be compulsory or conditional.

Stories of vaccine passports and 'no jab, no job' continue in the media, as the discussion wrestles with how to set the balance between public safety and personal liberty. We already have conditional "entry" to shops etc via varius State-based apps. I'm not sure that compulsory is the way to go, however there must be a middle ground somewhere (optional).

There is a lot more chance of having myocarditis with covid than from the vaccines. One of the complications of myocarditis is sudden cardiac death due to an arrhythmia hence why they can be at home and get no warning of the impending disaster.
As to the young man there are some genetic cardiac conditions that also predispose to sudden cardiac death but you would hope that that had been investigated if there is such a history as death can be prevented by an implantable defibrillator.

I think people are at home anyway, not sure it will make much difference.

With the rain and freezing temperatures, its more likley people will have illegal guests inside their home rather than meeting up at the park or beach. The virus spreads more readily indoors, and with windows closed there will be less fresh air and heaters/aircon will be circulating those aerosols more readily.
