If flights start internationally soon from NSW they’re in for a tough time even if they’re opened up. As much as I love Queensland it’s still Australia with Coffee Clubs on every corner.
Honestly they really should be already, 700-800 cases a day and a clear delination between how the vacc'd / unvacc'd handle covid there is NO reason that they should not be flying thousand into SYD every day. the 20/30 cases a day it would bring of vaccinated people is a drop in the ocean to their current covid struggles.

Vic Presser.

7 on ventilators. :(
34 people are in hospital, 9 of whom are in intensive case and 7 are ventilated.

Another 830,000 (450,000 Pfizer) first dose vaccination appointments to be added into the booking system tomorrow (ie can be booked - this over time and not just this week). This is in part as the Pfizer from the Polish acquisition now has a scheduled arrival time. Note the new bookings is based on the Pfizer that will now be arriving and is consistent with past practice that as new doses get confirmed arrival times, that booking slots get opened up.

This is for all over 16, and at Vic State Hubs.

Victoria: Pfizer vaccine eligibility opens to anyone aged over 16 from tomorrow

Possibly less asymptomatic testing in LGAs of concern, less exposure site testing and more asymptomatic testing to come in Western NSW.
Potential good reasons. My tongue was firmly in cheek

It will be a failure of National Cabinet if they don't come out with a single clear message on Friday.
Delving into federal politics - this will become the PM being for freedom and the opposition being for lockdowns if they don't play their cards carefully.

At some point Labor will need to present their alternative plan, as the alternative government, if they don't get on board with Doherty. What is that plan will be interesting and Scomo threw down the gauntlet when he invited the WA and Queensland premiers to explain what their alternative is to open up.

This week is proving to be seminal in the history of C19 in Australia.

And it doesn't split on party lines. There's a lot of ALP voters who want freedom and travel, and older conservative voters who want the border closed forever.

I think some leaders have begun to believe their own propaganda, but now is the time to face reality and be honest with voters - that applies to both sides.

Doherty is respected on both sides, so hopefully sanity will prevail.

I suspect it will be who can open up faster by that time rather than lockdown v freedom. So many people will be jabbed by then no one will care. The rest unvaccinated will be anti vaxxers (and to be honest thinning that herd no one is going to lose sleep over) and kids who are resilient to the virus anyway.

I think VIC’s big announcement today and some more measured tone from my states outgoing CHO has given me some more hope. With VIC and NSW firing on all cylinders now, it’s clear Gladys and Dan are talking as they cross reference all the time, I think QLD will come along for the ride now and bang that’s the big 3 done!

I think Queensland would be faster if the premier stuck with "we're opening at 80%, don't be the last to get your jab" rather than, "don't worry, we'll wait for everybody."

Oh I hope you are right about all of that @jakeseven7. I veer between feeling hopeful and feeling beaten down at the moment.
