Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

With the rain and freezing temperatures, its more likley people will have illegal guests inside their home rather than meeting up at the park or beach. The virus spreads more readily indoors, and with windows closed there will be less fresh air and heaters/aircon will be circulating those aerosols more readily.
Any evidence for this assertion?

I am very surprised that my younger colleagues at work have been quite enthusiastic about the vaccine.
Why is that. Do you think that they (some of them) don't care about their personal welfare?

Have to ask how does a 30something die at home...did they deteriorate that quickly?
Why not call an ambulance if your gravely unwell at home or/and at the point of close to death.

I have no issue with this, just don't understand how it's possibly, they must have other health issues, no?
Not suggesting it's fake or not covid by any stretch, just seems odd to me.
I recall getting the old fashioned "just the flu" a few years back. I lost five days and five kg's. My recollection of that week is really vague but I reckon if I'd been home alone and the grim reaper rocked up, I'd have welcomed him right on in. I couldn't have found a phone, let alone figured how to use it.
If Covid is worse than that, I want no part of it!

Husband had serious flu maybe 20 years ago. I still remember he basically didn't move from the bed for a week and when he did he fainted and hit his head. Even though I didn't have a separate room to sleep in at the time, I didn't get it.

I got really bad flu a few years ago (twice in one year!) and was laid up for a couple of months. Got the first dose of someone seriously ill with it on a train at Crewe, UK.

After that, I vowed to get an annual flu jab and haven't been troubled with it since.

Now, Covid is something different again. Even if you're double jabbed, you WILL get it and hopefully will not die.

No one is going out in this weather! It’s blowing a gale outside and apparent temp is around 3 degrees. I had to duck out earlier and the roads were much quieter.

Previous information around why people are still dying at home (aside from suddenness of deterioration) is because people have not come forward as a positive case because it would result in their household also being tested and quarantined. Meaning not going out to work/ earn income.

Surprised as in they acted so quickly. Some got their AZ last week. Think they're thinking more of getting out of lockdown rather than personal welfare.

A great article from the Ethics Centre regarding the case of vaccines - should they be compulsory or conditional.

Stories of vaccine passports and 'no jab, no job' continue in the media, as the discussion wrestles with how to set the balance between public safety and personal liberty. We already have conditional "entry" to shops etc via varius State-based apps. I'm not sure that compulsory is the way to go, however there must be a middle ground somewhere (optional).
Another famous Australian ethicist who believes in compulsory vaccination.

A very good read. Thanks for posting.

Also an interesting article. It’s so great to read well written, well constructed, thoughtful pieces instead of the rubbish being peddled by even quality news outlets, let alone those at the tackier end of the spectrum.

Families speak out over multiple COVID-19 outbreaks in New South Wales hospitals

Twenty per cent of COVID-related deaths in NSW this year have occurred due to outbreaks in public hospitals, amid growing concerns of serious flaws in the state's hospital system.

Seventy-five people across NSW have died since the beginning of the Delta outbreak, according to the latest health department statistics. Sixteen of those people who died were patients who acquired COVID-19 during their hospitalisation.

No one sensible, but some people are out (well inside other peoples homes) where they shouldnt be.

Who were all eligible for a vaccine for months, but werent vaccinated. There were hospital failings and there is room for improvement, but its also on the individual to minimise their own risk by getting jabbed when eligible.

My big issue with this type of story is the lack of comparison with similar experiences elsewhere (eg the UK NHS). So much of the focus of reporting since the latest Sydney outbreak is who to blame, the need to blame outranking everything else.
