Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

She does make a very good point. These politicians have a job to do, they were obviously doing other things before this virus popped up, so how can they be doing that when they spend each and every morning at these pointless press conferences.
yup, i think deaths will go double figures, maybe 20+ in the next month and the shouting will get louder from reporters, but the questions wont change, the answers wont change, its a grim waiting game for vaccinations to get up there.

We can have to booster argument next year, after i've had my chance to try and pickle my liver again in the uk

OOOO NSW press conference going to non-daily after sunday - called it, glad to see it

LOLOL Reporters going off chop at losing their ability to shout the same question every day and get paid for it.

They’re spending the entire press conference asking questions about the press conference and not covid, so are proving her point for her.
It is like a bunch of spoiled kids saying "mummy don't go to work, we need you!"

Will be interesting to read the headlines tomorrow, but there will be daily briefings from Health.

Im sad I wont be seeing Gladys at 11am.... all that free time I will now have in my day 🤣 No one in my office was booking meetings 11-11.20am because of Gladys. Ive often wondered how the speakers deal with the same same from the reporters every single day. Especially the professionals (Dr Chant ect) who are not pollies.

Then the reporter tantrum about not having 11am conferences from Monday morning..... like what will they do with themselves now.

They aren’t delivering any new information that couldn’t be delivered by a robot so might as well continue to wean the public off covid by removing the ability for the media to grab gotcha moment headlines (whenever Brad stumbles…) bit by bit.

Plus the other story as I posted previously is the ratings have dived for the NSW press conference as well, far less people watching.

Which I think is all good signs we are moving on with life.

Yep, I think at a "needs" press conference soon, the journalists might just gang up and hammer the NSW Premier about non-covid questions and issues of the day

Also the 1533 day was a statistical outlier
And here too. Based on what statistics?.
It’s a list of numbers. How many variables do you think are in play?.
we could have a single day exceeding that with a much lower 5 day average and R eff below 1.
Each way bet…

So basically you are saying you reckon the numbers has peaked so should be dropping but it could also rise. Sounds like statingg the obvious?

Covid university graduating lots of “experts”. No wonder misinformation is rife.

Professor Esterman - who I think does the Reff for covid19data said on twitter

Another 1542 cases for NSW with sadly 9 deaths. The 5-day moving average is 1365, and the Reff has increased slightly from 0.96 to 1.01. My projected case numbers for today was 1968. So, although the small increase in Reff is disappointing, it still looks very peakish.

Chris Billington still has the Reff at 1.10, but I do wonder whether he is now trying to estimate the Reff before the impact of vaccinations. This of course can never make sense because the Reff, which is based on current numbers would naturally include the vaccination rates up to 3 weeks ago (because vaccinations have increasing effectiveness over time until the 'deemed' full effectiveness of 3 weeks later)

Simply saying that daily numbers are erratic
No you made a statement that a number was a statistical outlier. Either you have analysis to back it up or you don’t.

Erratic?. Why do say that?. There is no basis for that either. I thought you were doing statistical analysis?.

You don’t know it’s an outlier. If it was then why include it in your rolling averages. Ability to do algebra does not extend to data analysis.

There is a difference between opinion and statements which purport to be based on some “analysis”. Again, if speculating, say so.

Or a beer establishment on the canal in Bruges serving Belgian Beer, maybe Rochfort 10? Gotta work your way up to them though, they are nasty strong - 11.3%.

From a certain perspective, blocking is not the answer - because it would allow "misinformation" to remain unfettered - make the "misinformation" appear correct when it might not be.

As previously indicated - if people gives others more latitude to make quips or half statements in posts and AFF threads then it would be fairer to all. When we amp up the need to be 100% accurate, 100% of the time, then this is the situation we end up in.

Edit: there is now a missing post - re blocking.

Please explain where I provided misinformation?

I have no problem with people providing corrections or asking for clarifications.

I do have a problem when they go out of their way to target me specifically in multiple threads, taking my comments out of context and then misrepresenting my replies.
Well two people/posts assert your post was misleading which could equate to "misinformation"

Do you want to be fair to me and quote my whole post where I said we may get an even higher case number despite a declining R eff below 1?

5 day average is 1386 today, slightly higher than yesterday (1374) but lower than most of the days before it, it gives an R eff of 0.98.
So not a statistical outlier?

Just thought I would share that in a few weeks VIC are planning to begin scaling back their contact tracing from low risk sites (a la the first step in the NSW process of turning manual contact tracing off).

NSW contact tracing is now even more scaled back with even more staff being un-seconded (it’s probably aluminium standard now 😂)

The return to normal edges closer…

Tony Abbott fined $500 for not wearing a mask

NSW Police have slapped former Prime Minister Tony Abbott with a $500 fine after he was photographed maskless in Manly on Wednesday.

The infringement notice was issued after he was snapped chatting with a friend at the beach by a concerned bystander who promptly took photographs and reported him to police.
