Here we go, yet again.... but at least another lockdown and a good old outbreak should drive up our vaccines?

Five new local cases, lockdown expected for south-east Queensland

The Premier has warned parts of south-east Queensland may soon have to go into lockdown within days after five new local cases were reported on Saturday, but for now the region will remain open.

Hopefully some people are going to get roasted on our focus on meaningless tough talk on borders to stop virus spread when we should be vaccinating faster....

Qld braces on twin COVID fronts as vaccination rates under scrutiny

Queensland authorities are racing to manage twin COVID-19 fronts after mystery positive tests from a school student and Griffith University staff member, both of whom likely spent days in the Brisbane community while infectious, as the state attempts to hold off the next inevitable outbreak.

A four-day delay between a NSW-based truck driver’s test and result has also further sharpened focus on freight travel protocols whilst faltering vaccination rates are raising questions about the Queensland Government's focus on the rollout.

Interesting to see Victoria follow a long-predicted trajectory to that of NSW. I dare say public health has scoffed up all the good will in the community and this is the result.

Wednesday was 212 cases.
Yes I wonder where the politics will go now. Dan said he was going hard and early to avoid being like NSW. Oh wait....! Regardless the prohibition of Victorians currently in NSW from returning looks more and more pointless now.

Didn't you hear, it's the federal government's fault.

Daily, but our hubs are a disgrace, have been incredibly slow to set up and no offence to people who live in WA (I grew up there), but we have fallen behind WA of ALL places, I mean how embarrassing.

The focus has been too much on grand standing about borders, blaming NSW for slow reactions etc as ways to stop the spread of the virus rather than focussing on the one thing that will actually save us from the spread when it inevitably hits us ... sigh

I actually am fearful that when VIC and NSW are free and happy, we will STILL be in yo-yo lockdowns, it is that slow!

Reff for 4 of the 12 NSW LGAs of concern is now 1.00 or below
Reff for NSW LGAs of concern is 1.05.

Reff of Victoria is 1.83

According to ABC:

Of those who have died:
  • Three were in their 80s
  • Two in their 70s
  • One in their 50s
  • One in their 40s
  • One in their 30s
The two men in their 30s and 40s died at home before being tested, and were found to be COVID positive after their deaths.

And none vaccinated I thought I heard.
