Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

I also note that the 2021NYE Sydney Harbour Paid vantage points are undersubscribed - especially the popular Botanic gardens Fleet steps $395 pp was still available this morning.

People are taking matters into their own hands and making decisions for themselves.

Despite the numbers, no one is panic buying - especially the toilet paper.
95% vax rates

And I think people are self isolating when positive and self contact tracing and letting people they know they are positive

Let the people buy in to the problem rather than force solutions on them, and maybe we might be pleasantly surprised with the outcome. They just don’t want to be told what to do and they don’t want the police overseeing their every movement.

People are learning to live with Covid
The politicians and the media and those with a platform should learn the same.

My biggest hope is that in the population will continue to apply the hygiene lessons learnt during Covid and maybe reduce the high death rate during the winter months.
Botanic Gardens Foundation Members picnic. Not fully subscribed but not zero either. A comfortable crowd.

Ah thanks..

That’s a lot better crowd wise. In past years it was like a Zoo

Where is that located in the BG in relation to the Fleeet Steps? Further toward Farm Cove?

It’s the getting there that is the problem
It’s in the area called Mare and Foal lawn, so sort of at the top of Farm Cove on the eastern side of the Cove…

But reality is it's almost impossible to be identified as a close contact now.

At worst you get an alert to remain alert for symptoms (and the ServiceNSW app sends enough of those - think I've got 5 alerts for 2 crosses in my history)

With detected case rates this high now (who knows how high real cases are given it can be so mild) everyone should be on ‘alert’ for symptoms in general anyway so why bother with the QR code as well…. I think it’s kind of pointless now.

Better keep the truck drivers out of WA too. !!

The way it's going, won't be anyone to drive trucks over anyway.

Two thousand in SA and just now all our testing stations shut from 10.30 until 5.30pm because umm, like omicron, a hot summer day in South Australia was completely unpredictable. Apparently.
I have a friend who is in ADL for a few days and has developed a sore throat so has gone to get tested - not overly complimentary on the level of information provided by SA Health.

They are a shambles but I guess that’s what happens when years of economic abuse and neglect by the government happens

Meanwhile in Victoria yesterday

“There are 428 COVID-19 cases in hospital in Victoria – 54 active cases in ICU, with 21 of those on a ventilator. There are an additional 43 cleared cases in ICU. Of those in hospital, 52 per cent were not fully vaccinated and of those in ICU, 100 per cent were not fully vaccinated."

Using NSW Health weekly surveillance reports - for the week 5/12-11/12, it appears 35/184 (19%) of additional hospital patients are fully vaxxed, and at least 7/11 (63%) [2 fully vaxxed could be reclassification from another vaxxed category in a prior period] of additional ICU patients are fully vaxxed.

Given testing queues and rule changes not sure of the veracity (or value) of no of cases anymore. Hospitalisations more important and seem to be increasing rapidly (and unfortunately likely to keep doing so). ICU admissions would seem to be next as experience shows they lag hospital admissions.

Queenslands 2266 was apparently on a 12 hour reporting period.

Yes, they are switching over to a 24hr reporting period from today so those figures are the 12hrs from 7am to 7pm yesterday
.I saw the ministers explanation of this which was clear as mud.
Numbers of tests would reflect a change in the measurement period not a reduction to just 12 hrs statistics.

The way I understood it was that from now the period will be a 24hr period from 7pm starting last night so therefore yesterday’s numbers were reflected in the 12hr period of 7am yesterday to 7pm.
Obviously I could be off the mark
