Exempt I believe
Not necessarily. Still up for a decision. They need to sort whether a charter is deemed safe. Which makes a mockery of stopping cars if that is the case.

I’m not a doctor so my understanding isn’t great, but I’m somewhat perplexed as to how our death rate is so low. 7 (one of whom was nearly 100 years old) seems very out of step with other countries who are struggling.

Always a lag between the number of cases and the number of deaths.

Also you hear a lot of talk about “flattening the curve”, to keep the number of cases below a threshold - which they health services can actually cope with. Once exceeding that threshold you can’t provide the same level of care to everyone, as there aren’t enough facilities or medical staff.

There are 2 known main strains of SARS-CoV-2, one of which is less virulent. There has also been signs that overall, the virus is mutating to be less deadly, which means it likely becomes something seasonal like influenza or the 4 types of coronaviruses that cause common cold.

Having the flu shot done tomorrow so at least that is one less illness I need to think about if the C V strikes.

We would still be in the relatively early stages of infection in Oz, and death may take weeks after diagnosis. How does that sound?

Edit: Maybe just give it a bit longer until the need to triage, and see what that does to the death rate. 😟

I was wondering, with all the 'new' social-distancing, sanitation etc, if other transmissible diseases might be much lower in occurrence in the next 6 months. Should be! I'll be getting the flu shot when I get out of isolation - or maybe a week later to put the Dr's surgery a bit more at ease.

It just seems to be taking so long to get on top of this.

People don't have to wait for the government to tell them what to do. And some won't take any notice when they do. :(

Just heard first hand report that CEO of an organisation rang the Qld Govt Coronavirus Contact tracing service to receive a recorded message saying the office was closed and please ring back tomorrow.

is there sill hope?

Because once it closes, it will be closed for months! And then there is NSW handling of the cruise ship. <Bangs head on desk>

Government/bureaucracy doing it their way. 😩

Edit: And not to forget the decision by “Canberra” regarding the good ship Amsterdam in Freo (more head banging required)

What happened with the cruise ship?

We know what happened to the Diamond Princess in Japan. Not much to be done other than to let the thing dock. Get everyone to the airport and out as soon as you can...

They allowed them to get off, go to hotels and supposedly self isolate. Reports said that they went to the hotel checked in and then asked where the nearest gym was for example.
