It was reported on the news tonight that two of them wanted to get to the NT, one had planned to stay in Adelaide for a week and the other just wanted out of Melbourne as the lockdown was causing him anxiety issues. It was mentioned he was a Uni student from NZOut of idle curiosity, the background circumstances would be interesting to know.
They were listed as being of no fixed address . So does this mean they were homeless people. Were they disconnected from society to the point where they were unaware of SA border procedures. If they were of no fixed address and no means then a fine would mean nothing to them. Fourteen days accommodation and food might be a good deal for them.
Did the magistrate consider In his/her decision they actually weren't trying to enter SA but on their way to WA and just unfortunately detected at an unexpected stop.
The judgement listed some of them as not being from Victoria. Did this play a part in the decision. Is there poor wording in the emergency orders.
Were they deliberate lawbreakers or doing the wrong thing out of ignorance or disconnection from society. Why were they intent on WA, an opportunity there?
Ah my mind wanders.
That's gold. They cane people for serious offences such as rape, assault and murder in Singapore, not for anything related to Covid. It's like saying we jail people for life here in Australia so they don't dare jaywalk. In Singapore, a few strokes of the rattan cures unfocussed thinking and if you cannot pay - you will learn a bit more.

Just a comment/question generally:
If the first round of infection is 3/7 based on patient zero of the Crossroads Hotel cluster then secondary infection could not be before 5/7, right? My understanding is it takes at least 2 days, but more typically 5 days before someone infected has a sufficient viral load to infect others.
Am I mistaken or is that thinking now out of the window or proven otherwise?
Actually no.The Australian article only said that there was a link between the BLM protest positive cases and the Tower cases. Not at all suprising due to the timing of the protest being about 10 days after the first case at the Rydges.
It is just some people like imputing motives to journalists of the Australian.
Close the border Anastasia.. do it now

Apparently, Victorians applying to change their driving licenses from Vic to the ACT is up 150%. We have to be on the lookout everywhere for people trying to spread this around. So selfish
I'm not assuming we will get there either in August from SA.Glad we held off on booking a trip to FNQ, who knows when we’ll finally be allowed to go.
Although some are very easily embarrassed.I agree.
Seems like only last week I was reading how embarrassed we should be for Queensland due to the Premier keeping borders closed. ....
Heard an interesting piece on the radio this morning. Apparently the NSW Govt were lobbied very, very hard by the AHA around "tightening" of restrictions applying to pubs. Yesterday's presser Gladys even mentioned that "some of the new proposals, such as reducing group bookings from 20 to 10, were recommended by the AHA".
There was a infectious diseases expert on the radio observing that none of the new restrictions would have made a scrap of difference to the spread of the virus at the Crossroads Hotel had they already been implemented. Furthermore, there were other measures that could have been implemented but were left on the table. Maybe it's a lobbying win by the AHA, but if the rest of the community pays a bigger price down the track then there should be some accountability for that.

Yes, talk of a “record” day in Victoria.Press conference from Vic at 11am. Adelaide media pointing to very glum news. Hope they are wrong.
