A consequence of this incident is that there will be lots more identity checks before and after flights.
There is no evidence of false identity according to Qld press conference today.

From ABC Covid blog 47 minutes ago

Queensland Deputy Commissioner Steve Gollschewski has high confidence they have tracked everyone who went to a party in Melbourne then returned dishonestly to Queensland
....
"In this instance, it is not an matter of identity, there is no false identity. It is about not declaring where people have been. Our ability to say we have you been for the entire period that you have been out of the state, we are unable to do that. We rely on the community telling us.

Well one of the 2 19 year olds is refusing to say where she had been in the 8 days back in brisbane so the CHO has decided it is too risky to have them in isolation at home so is going to move them to hotel quarantine.More expense for them.
the third woman was with them on the Melbourne trip so looking more like a crime gang.

Highest positivity rate in Vic since the early days of test, and the highest of the second wave.

19,921 Tests3.48 % Positivity rate

“1 in 5 Victorians tested” Vic Premier

Hope they removed multiple tests on same person.......and I’m guessing ever, rather than say last 6 weeks.

LGAs, surrounding Geelong and including Geelong are being tightened with no visitors from home to be allowed.

People can still meet at cafes, pubs in those LGA's though.

Hospitals numbers not up much. Mist likely as less residents from aged care have been moved across.

In fairness to the one that is cooperating with health authorities, I think they should name the one that isnt cooperating because the amount of hate towards these 2 is going to get worse. One at least is now doing the right thing.

QLD Police will put all three before the courts:

Deputy Commissioner Steve Gollschewski said Queensland Police would continue to use the powers at their disposal to ensure the risk of community transmission is mitigated. This is proving difficult as one of the women is refusing to co-operate with authorities …

"… We know these three young women have all gone to Victoria where they have been exposed to COVID. They will all go towards the court, and charges will be formalised today …."

18 new cases of COVID-19 diagnosed in NSW as community transmission increases

Another 18 cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in New South Wales overnight. Of those, two are returned travellers in hotel quarantine which means the other 16 are locally acquired.

The news comes after four Sydney schools were forced to close for deep cleaning due to a confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19.

And gyms.

All I'm taking from today is that the Victorian Government truly has pretty much no control over the situation...

Only 109 of the 723 are linked to aged care.

People still going to work despite being sick with symptoms.......an irony of masks perhaps?
But in reading, some of the symptoms are so mild it starts to do your head in, wondering "is this is?"

I had a sniffle early morning for about 3 days - is it because I went to the office and the aircon plays havoc with my sinuses, is it because we dont use heat at home and its winter, do I get tested and its a waste of resources? It does your head in.

This was also happening pre- compulsory mask wearing.

At least now hopefully they are less likely to transmit.
That’s partly my point...people taking more risks of going to work while sick with symptoms because they think wearing a Mask makes transmission less likely....hence irony.

Vic Premier is being consistent. Symptoms now, don’t go to work, get tested.

Yes, but right now if the person with symptoms is in Melbourne, they should err on the side of caution. Think of it this way.....if there are 15k tests and only 700 positives, then 14,000 did the right thing.
