Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

This discussion is starting to look ridiculous. Canberrans in self quarantine had 100% compliance recently. I think we and the police could manage to wrangle the cars. It would be pretty obvious if any cars suddenly disappeared because they will be in a convoy. If I get a chance I’ll ask the chief minister how many police cars he is providing.

How many police cars were they intending to provide? According to the lady interviewed on Q&A last night there were approx 100 ACT residents in Wadonga stuck at the border (some from regional Vic towns without cases and some who had come from Melbourne or other areas such as Geelong with active cases) - two police cars would not be able to keep site of approx 50 vehicle convoy for the whole 3 hour drive. If a car broke off route - do the cops follow the rest of chase down the wrong doer - Im not saying it cant be done but it is far from simple.

Better would be for the cars to be loaded onto trucks as freight (would need 10 or so trucks) and the residents put into busses with police on each bus to make sure no one disembarks in NSW?

These people have already demonstrated they cant follow instructions, by not leaving Vic while their transit passes were valid i.e. before 12.01am last Friday, after the restrictions were announced on the prior Tuesday.

Well, now that you ask.

It seems that the ACT Police & ACT-based Federal Police have a lot of spare capacity due to no sittings at the moment & no widespread photo opportunites kissing babies.

The full protection details are rumoured to have been signed up for Jenny Craig!

Just as all permutations are planned for in escorting Scomo - it is very simple to change it to deal with a one-off car/ute/bus/truck convoy from Albury to the ACT. If needs be a single coach with a toilet on-board could be used to cover the 'unavoidable' need, 2 or three road service vehicles (including staff) from the ACT could travel with the convoy, an ambulance as well as a paramedic support vehicle could be added in as well.

75 seconds of slow typing (:)) and problem solved!

Next excuse Gladys? I wonder what side of politics is in charge in the ACT?

Nothing to see here, move along please!

Here are a few more 'Great Escapes' in NSW plus a failed nomination!

Again all unrelated to the scenario being discussed which was self isolation directives for nsw residents since the Crossroads infection (started by a Vic transport worker).

NSW can clearly do no right in your eyes.

The border closure advice changed after Vic lost any sense of control of its community spread. At the time Gladys was calling for Qld border to reopen we had less than 5 cases a day from international arrivals. And since the border did reopen on 10th July , no NSW resident ought a single case of Covid-19 to Queensland.

Steel yourself before watching this video about the various non-health Victorian government department bods congratulating themselves on the fated hotel quarantine scheme. Original video only on Herald Sun, but this West news report is cringe-worthy enough.

I agree and the bit about them doing the wrong thing by not having left in time is quite annoying. The advice kept changing and people with permits thought they would be OK. According to Canberra Times the main issue is NSW don’t want Canberra Police doing the escort, because they have no jurisdiction. Talk about people protecting their little empires at the expense of peoples lives :(

Is that the right video because there’s almost nothing in it apart from a woman saying that they’ve been ‘stepping up’?

Sorry over my head you might need to explain your point..... If people on the border aren’t allowed to get into NSW, not sure how they are getting to Queanbeyan :)
I thought you said NSW should not be allowed to use Canberra hospital.

I guess your frustration was fogging your ‘solution’/‘rebuttal’ :)

Breaking: Two workers test positive for coronavirus at Sydney Hospital

Two workers at a Sydney hospital have tested positive for coronavirus, with one of the staff members linked to an existing community cluster.

South Western Sydney Local Health District confirmed the two workers at Liverpool Hospital had become infected.

“All close and casual contacts have been identified and, as is standard protocol, advised to isolate, monitor and test for COVID-19 should any symptoms present.

“One staff member has links to an existing cluster in the community and the source of infection for the other staff member is under investigation.”

None of these are solely attributable to being pokies or religious gatherings. (yes funeral could be labelled religious gathering but many people who die are non-religious).

The first 3 cases at Crossroads were 2 diners and 1 staff (they later determined the source was a Vic transport worker and his NSW Colleagues who dined at Crossroads the day cases 1-3 acquired COvid). But the 4th case went to the gym, then 3 pokies venues (2 other pubs and Star city). Whilst source of Thai Rock is not confirmed, two diners from there played pokies at Mounties which sparked another 15 cases. Take away the temptation of pokies and less people would be moving around multiple venues.

In the funeral cluster the super spreader attended funerals at a series of Churches and Rookwood chapel - all were religious not secular services. if religious gathering numbers went back to the 10 person limit, Im sure the families would have prioritised family/close friend attendees and this funeral junkee (who was a non-employee relative of the funeral company) wouldn't have been able to crash the services and infect so many. And now it seems like the Tangara outbreak is linked to an overnight religious retreat attended by the students and teacher who are positive (overnight camps/retreats not permitted under current restrictions). Religious types seem to struggle with distancing.

I maintain that imposing restriction on playing pokies (far form a need) and religious gatherings (my preference would be to close places of worship, but could go back to limit of 10) and mandating mask use on PT (and in some other high risk situations) are low impact, low cost measures that would be very beneficial until community transmission reduces.

On the Project (10), it was stated that stage 4 lockdown has reduced movement by 55% based on same time last year. That doesn’t sound a lot.

Yes I did ....... I would stop NSW people using our hospital until they allow our people to come home....

Quite simple really

NSW can do no right

Well they could but we do not really have many claims to fame do we? The point is that in recent media coverage it has almost become St Gladys, almost on a par with St Fauci (the one who got recorded talking about how he lied about the use of masks, criticised the Trump move (before Scomo) announced stopping flights from China).

Credit where credit is due. NSW Govt did appoint the same security company to guard it most used hotel venue (The Adina) as is at the centre of the Melbourne allegations - and is still using them. However, NSW police are outside.

Presided over first widespread community transmission event - Bondi Beach.

Presided over Ruby Princess....

Advised against all nursing home staff use of and refused to supply ANY PPE to first infected nursing home.

Despite seeing slow motion disaster of the Tokyo Bay stranded Diamond Princess (leave infected on board & refuse to take off to quarantine in hospital) - made the decision not to create a 'precedent' & instead leave them in-situ.

Actually if you check - Scomo & Gladys complained when Qld first closed their borders following the Ruby Princess episode that introduced CV to 38 new areas across Australia. Also about WA, Scomo went so far as to join Clive Palmer in his High Court legal challenge to the WA border closure. Why no legal challenge for SA?

Totally coincidental that the two states with the highest per capita political donations also happen to be the 2 states that left mega gambling venues open (Crown Casino & The Star) until the public backlash got too great. Same two states not to close their borders.

Remember that late in the evening Gladys mocked a journalist asking why international travellers faced mandatory hotel quarantine when they came from countries with a fraction of the community transmission as Melbourne - yet travellers from Melbourne simply walk off the plane and onto public transport to all areas of NSW.

Seven hours later Gladys back-flipped and announced that travellers from Melb were to be stopped, just as an about to be published Australian News Poll found 90%+ (I think it was) wanted mandatory quarantine.

Too much politics IMHO, but I am often wrong.

Breaking: Sydney Catholic club closes doors after member tests positive

Dooleys Catholic Club at Lidcombe has closed its doors after a member visited the club last weekend and has since tested positive for COVID-19.

The club is now in the process of helping NSW Health access the contact details of all employees and patrons who were on the premises between the period Friday 7th August at 5:00pm and Saturday 8th August at 1:30am.

They announced an “immediate closure of DOOLEYS Lidcombe Catholic Club, the Health & Fitness Centre and the Administration office to allow for deep cleaning of the whole property” through a statement on their website.

Ok ok enough with the state v state pissing contest / blame game never seen such a boring movie
Well does a point I picked up interest you?
