until they allow our people to come home.

No one is stopping people from going home, they just have to travel by the legislated paths, as they didnt return by road before the hard border came into affect.

I know you think the ruling is unfair, but withholding emergency medical treatment in the nearest hospital in retaliation seems really petty to me. The people waiting in Wadonga for an alternative resolution to the one currently on offer (i.e flying into ACT) lives aren't at immediate risk,. But driving 3 hours to a Sydney hospital in a emergency would cost lives, vs 10 mins to Canberra.

ACT residents can go home, SA and WA residents coming from Vic arent even being allowed to return to their homes except for some extremely limited cases. Qld has the same fly-in rule for anyone coming from Vic or NSW (be they resident or exempt visitor). But SA, NSW and Qld arent refusing to treat border town residents at their nearest hospital. Maybe think on that.

Entirely agree. It is a ridiculous situation. So Tim Wilson who also had his authority to cross the border cancelled but immediately reinstated could drive from Melbourne through New South Wales into Canberra. But people at Wodonga 3 1/2 hours away from their destination apparently can’t be trusted. This is not a pissing competition this is a ridiculous state of affairs.

Ok ok enough with the state v state pissing contest / blame game never seen such a boring movie

You have not mentioned the Federal politicians who are fine to drive from Melbourne to Wodonga through New South Wales and grace the ACT with their presence. And we are so happy to have them here. Yes, people are being stopped from going home only from Wodonga. Double standards of the worse sort.

Well does a point I picked up interest you?

On the Project (10), it was stated that stage 4 lockdown has reduced movement by 55% based on same time last year. That doesn’t sound a lot.

And what do they define as "movement" as the roads and public transport are all clearly well below 55%?

ie This is 7.17PM in Melbourne, and those pics are more like 3AM than peak hour traffic. (Pics are live so will keepupdating.

Go back several pages - i have explicitly said I do not agree with any exemptions for politicians or celebrities - they should all be subject to the same rules, Its not ok, and I never said it was.

I don’t know how the Vic government defines movement, but they took into account traffic, public transport and came up with a reduction of 55%.

The Project just reporting what Vic Government says I guess.

I agree and the bit about them doing the wrong thing by not having left in time is quite annoying. The advice kept changing and people with permits thought they would be OK.

I feel sorry for those who got bad/changed advice but a closed border is a closed border.
Why should someone in Canberra get a police escort but someone 2km away in Queanbeyan can't?

To be honest I'm surprised given how well ACT has done that they are keen to have any returnees from Vic

That’s weird ABC reported 90% down last night. Who to believe....

moovit has Public Transport Usage in Vic down 78% compared to 15th Jan 2020, and 15th Jan being Xmas School Holidays this would be down on the 11 Aug 2019.

so moovit would have public transport usage down by over that figure if you compared to 12 months ago.

So not knowing what "movement" is meant to be, it is definitely is no traffic or public transport.

We have quarantine opportunities here same as the rest of the country. The federal politicians can get here by exactly the same route from the epicentre, but normal people at Wodonga are stopped - that’s not exactly consistent. It is the ACT police who have offered to escort them and let’s assume that the police can take responsibility for their own decisions

Because they quarantine and do the right thing. We have had hundreds return from Victoria with no issues. 100% compliance from police checks. We are more likely to get cases from visitors from NSW.

It's not inconceivable that both figures could be correct.

I had heard (can't find the source) both figures as well, The 90% figure was comparing to base of August 2019. The 55% figure IIRC was compared to before going into Stage 4 (or maybe Stage 3, not sure).

It’s not petty - it’s called using leverage. NSW are too big and important to be bothered to sort out the problem in a timely fashion - it will get sorted and I am pretty confident it will involve people being allowed to drive back, so you use what leverage you have to get their attention,

EDIT. I also have no idea why you have stated these people did the wrong thing by not coming back when they should have. Everything I am reading is they had permits to cross and return and the permits were pulled without warning when they reached the border last Friday. One couple had been given a permit to see a dying parent and then immediately returned, only to find their permit no longer valid.

Hope this doesn’t end up being a quarantine breach.

“ Earlier today, Bloomfield said there was one new Covid-19 in managed isolation - a man in his 20s who arrived in New Zealand on July 30 from Melbourne.

He said the man tested negative on day 3 but went on to test positive on day 12.
The man had been in managed isolation at the Grand Millennium and has now been transferred to the Auckland quarantine facility.”

Is that the right video because there’s almost nothing in it apart from a woman saying that they’ve been ‘stepping up’?

As I wrote, the original video is exclusive to Herald Sun (so far), so I posted a report about it from the Westnews. Its pretty obvious whats going on in the video from the background grabs. Basically its the folk from Dept Jobs , National Gallery, Global Victoria etc patting themselves on the back for doing such a great job with the hotel quarantine task (early on, of course). Here's another report of it (from 25 secs) https://www.facebook.com/9NewsAdelaide/videos/hotel-quarantine-spotlight/1108693979528702/
