Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

It’s hard to believe that someone would be going into work while showing symptoms, over 5 days. I hope that is incorrect.

There’s been so much information provided about not to do this.
I later read she didnt have any symptoms until a headache two days before testing. So why did they think she came to work for 5 shifts while positive.

I can’t say I make a habit of reading tabloid media, but I cannot believe 7 News published the full name of the lady in Brisbane who has ended up with the virus and then a quote from AP attacking her stating she “went to work knowing she had symptoms and now we’ve got a lot of work to do” (or something along those lines).

That’s a serious new low, even by the standards of both parties above.
The Queensland premier has urged people not to vote for the LNP as they are soft on border control so it fits the narrative in the lead up to the Queensland election.

I would hope that people who have not deliberately spread Covid but happen to be infected are given some right of medical privacy. The two girls that lied about their trip to Melbourne were fair game as they committed other offences.

Interesting. It has been placed on the public record, although family claims less.

Edit: Reported as 5 shifts. So, could be 5 days, unless she worked some doublers or triplers.

AP has form with the ostracising of the Rockhampton nurse. It turned out APs facts were a long way off the mark.

It’s absolutely disgusting to be naming people who happen to have the virus as though they’re some kind of villain. In one breath, we’re saying it’s a “horrible, deadly virus” that inflicts great pain on people, then in the next we’re attacking people who are suffering from it. Which is it, AP?!

This is going to end up like HIV in the 80s.

Quite a bit of doom and gloom about tonight. I’m just happy to be living in QLD, the way that things are at the moment. 😀. Not to say that several other states aren’t doing similar.

I think there will be a lot of pressure at tomorrow's National Cabinet and there's a lot of media action across Fairfax/9, Guardian, ABC and News Corp about the borders. QF's loss today plus the testimony of the Tourism industry to the Senate Covid19 committee is focusing minds.

I think they should take the sheep to Melbourne Airport and use a drover to bring them up the ramp to the QF or VA terminal - it would make for a great story on the news.
If drovers are like shearers, then they are struggling to get work permits according to ABC news, so no cigar on that PR @antycbr!

there will be some long haired sheep this summer, along with a lot of rotten fruit and some lambs becoming mutton at this rate of ridiculousness.

But say a Tasmanian comes and stays with us here in QLD and we fly back on the same plane they can self isolate at home. Why is the risk different?
Well @drron, ain’t that the $64,000 question! And sceptics like me are getting very tired of being told it is on the basis on medical advice (that we are never privy to) and that it is for our own protection. They are really losing credibility with this bodere shenanigans and run the very real risk I feel that people will start lumping all medical advice together with the “political medical advice” and will start ignoring it.

Because the Taswegian is trusted on his home soil, being one of their own (and being related to most other Taswegians).

Whereas, you would be a Mainlander, viewed with suspicion and not to be trusted to isolate.

But,but I passed my Tassie citizenship test.no one relealised my neck scar was fake. :D :D:D:eek:😔

If each state government believes that its own citizens are so trustworthy and residents from other states aren't then I suppose prisons must be full of criminals from other states. Presumably the facts will bear this out?

And your unrelenting promotion of the Tassie scallop pie should have at least earned honorary Tassie citizenship in any case. 😉
The scallop festival is on this weekend at Bridport - it will be interesting to see how Covid precautions are addressed (and to feast on scallops  )

QLD Children locked in rooms as detention centre awaits hundreds of COVID tests

Contact tracers are compiling a list of places a COVID-positive woman visited whist experiencing symptoms as more than 100 children at a Brisbane youth detention centre remain locked in their rooms awaiting coronavirus test results.

A supervisor at the centre, a 77-year-old Ipswich woman, tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday night, triggering a massive health response, with authorities now working to discover how she contracted it.

Authorities have been unable to find out how the woman caught the virus, marking Queensland's first case of community transmission in a month.
