Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

The sadness that the families and friends thinking they were finally in the clear to welcome people from across Australia, hold a large gathering and be able to dance and do all the things you do at weddings, maybe some already here and now stuck, only to be cancelled three days prior.....

There is a reasonable argument that social distancing restrictions should not have been eased as far as they have already, for many states because it has bred a very high level of complacency where we are nowhere NEAR through this thing...

There is a lot of press, world press actually on the recklessness of the State of Origin game here and the amount of people in very close contact... How do we know Brisbane hasn't had an Adelaide 10 days ago....?...

The timing is interesting. Last Saturday night we had a Covid version of our Christmas Pageant. Prof Spurrier cut the ribbon to start at around 7.30pm. Now this first covid lady entered a public hospital the night before (Friday) and a Dr insisted she have a Covid test. She was discharged at around 4am on the Saturday morning. Given the previous lower rate of testing, I wonder when the news of the positive result was filtered through to SA Health? Given that we have had so few positives in recent months, and this was the first for ages in a non traveller, I would have expected around a nine hour turnover because that is what is happening now, with the thousands of tests being done. I am waiting for a reporter to ask her when she first found out the news.

No one has mentioned Victoria - Day 20
20 days of zeros today. Phew.

So the restrictions have been revised an hour ago. Again. And good news for animal lovers is that you can travel to feed your animals if there is no one else to care for them. There are additional services that can be open, like Hardware but Bunnings had shut their stores based on last nights advice. Not sure if they will open now for tradies and click and collect. They really have to provide a service for tradies in emergency situations. Like a broken toilet! 😱
The South Australian government needs to be taken to serious task over this fiasco.

The opposition leader lending full support doesn't help. That's not really their job as an opposition.

Yes I criticised Andrews harshly and maintain I was correct in doing so. I will do the same here. Nothing to do with party lines, for those that do simply accuse anyone of a differing view of being a "Murdoch puppet"

Maybe the SA Health is even more responsible given we seem to have replicated Victoria's issue, even the same manner in which the virus leaked out. We didn't learn from that experience.

They have tracked the source of the cluster to a UK expat.

How can you be a Murdoch puppet if you are demanding the same level of flamethrowing that VIC endured be applied to SA.

I am still waiting for the nukes to be launched from Canberra though towards Adelaide.... ;)

I would say that the takeaway from this is that the general principle of hotel quarantine is high risk. It was a sensible quick fix in the early days but we should have moved on to something better by now.
Take people potentially carrying a highly contagious virus and store them in the middle of cities, in facilities that were never designed for the purpose. What could possibly go wrong?!

ABC TV are out front interviewing us from up high about how quiet it is. Locals called the police already but they have paperwork.

Maybe they’ve learnt from Victoria as well. Despite all the heat on Dan Andrews and his government, in a poll taken a few weeks ago the opposition leaders approval rating was about 15%!

I think people got sick of his constant negativity, but perhaps the electorate also saw through the political opportunism around the “private security decision” instead of trying to hold the government to account over the ill preparedness of DHHS.

Regardless, it’s a difficult time - in the middle of a “crisis” - for oppositions to make a mark, lest the be seen as opposing for the sake of opposing.

Quick! SLAM those borders!

Excuse me QLD and WA have trademarked that statement, VIC will need to pay a royalty fee to use that phrase  😂

Though honestly, after what VIC has been through for our country, I would not blame them if they gently and carefully lowered the borders in a very stylish way (being VIC of course) for a short amount of time to make sure they don't go through it again ;)

Do you literally mean I’m one day out? I got Day 1 as 31/10 and projected Day 28 as 27/11

No I mean as in the common saying of being Yesterday's News

Something that was news, but people are no longer interested in.

Hence in Vic it is a good thing to be Yesterday's News with respect to Covid19
