Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Absolutely speechless.

My true and sincere thoughts with business owners who face thousands in losses due to this astounding revelation.
The weddings due tomorrow that got cancelled. The funerals that were stopped. The vendors who lost all their stock because it wouldn't stay fresh for 6 days in the heat. Tragic times for them.

but they were asking the same questions again and again - Stevens clearly said there is no provision for penalties under the Emergency Management act to charge the guy who lied with anything.
I think that's really hard to grapple with to be honest.

The law must be changed to make deliberate lying or omissions to contact tracers illegal.

Looks like there is an independent inquiry coming.... Enjoy SA!

Might unpick on exactly how they arrived at their decisions....

Don’t worry Vic Premier/Minister/CHO also made a move on this lie so they must have thought there was a possibility it was true.

I would have thought it was based on advice from SA Health.

And yes there was a possibility the lie was true. However the question remains as to why the interview from this person was so persuasive that SA used such draconian measures, as nothing else to date suggests that such measures were warranted.

Needs to be independent but Im guessing if people lie, and there is no penalty apparently in doing that then 🤷‍♀️
🤷‍♀️ seems to be my most used icon these days.

You have to look at the other side of the story. The guy stated he bought a pizza and got COVID as an extra. If that were true, it would have been the type of community infection to send shivers up the spine. The fast and severe lockdown was the correct reaction to that scenario. If it was spreading like that, it could have been Victorian numbers within days. I find it hard to say they did the wrong thing.

Fast action was certainly appropriate. It is the degree of the measures that is at question.

It was also stated today that the contract tracers did not believe the pizza story from the get go.

Yes. That's very true. But you know, it wasn't until today that we were told (maybe I just didn't hear) that it was a customer who got Covid from the box. I always assumed the person worked there! That was why it was a big deal having a second job. It wasn't until today we learnt they thought he was a customer - except he wasn't! It also means that the employer was also complicit in the lie, or the tracers never asked him/her any questions.

So a cleaner who worked at a medi-hotel got the virus, my initial thought someone was working a 2nd job at the pizza shop but some how he said that he only purchased a pizza. Did track and trace get lied to, seems like certain laws can be enacted quickly but others can't.

that pizza shop better fire that employee or the business might attacked from someone who lost a lot of money from SA locking down the state.

In QLD we just flipped our medically advised border coin, two sides, both sides of the coing say 'CALL A MEDIA CONFERENCE AND SLAM THE BORDERS DOWN'

Look forward to all the borders being swiftly reopened to SA.
I think Qld are waiting for 28 days without local transmission and wait til monthly meeting ,so the welcome mat will not Out for traveler from SA before Christmas

Business is listed as permanently closed.
No one will go there again and Marshall will make sure it is not allowed to open in any case. I’d suspect the ATO might be paying them a visit soon

Yes but of the 4000 definitions of local transmission which one do they mean?

Because none of the SA cases are mystery, which is the benchmark QLD use for borders (this week at least 😂 )

Be nice if we had a national cabinet that could align on definitions at the very least...

Anyway the good news is that it is just a normal cluster and one would expect that the two rings of contacts measures outside of any cases will see it cease in a relatively quick timeframe as this has worked well since it has been practiced.

Pizza guy joins the list of Australia's CV19 rogues, and the 24 hour rapid infection period initially claimed by SA Health to be occurring has not been (just normal rapid transmission that you get in large family households).

We have Karen's, so what is the name for this situation?

Well I do know a few, but I cannot write them on a public forum!

But with the Truck Driver and Butcher Club Cleaner we have had more than our share in Vic.

Add in the Qld Shoplifting Girls etc.

Unfortunately there is no shortage of such people. Though most people have done right thing.

But SA is still getting the white glove service (compared to VIC) from the Feds.....I'm not saying its right or wrong, just interesting to see....

... as you keep observing, again and again, steadfastly ignoring the huge difference in the magnitude of the two situations. Would you really expect a reaction to a ‘100’ event to be the same as the reaction to a ‘2’ event?

The PM would probably welcome saying the same thing to all situations. He could just record one message and then have his office play it over and over again, irrespective of one case, no deaths or 1,000 cases and 500 deaths 😕 .

Other victims of the SA situation were the approx 900 visitors to Tas from SA who got ordered into quarantine here. So much for their holidays 😕 Not forgetting the SA walkers on a wilderness track who got helicoptered out to go into quarantine!

No news yet on what the Tas govt will do now about this.

The people on the Ghan who were turned back at the border into NT. My nephew who now may not be able to get back from France to be with his young kids at Christmas when his flight into Adelaide got cancelled and no more spaces.
